Big performance in return
Stevenson rushed 19 times for 107 yards and two touchdowns in the Patriots' 50-10 win over the Jaguars on Sunday.
Impact
The rookie made a splashy return from a one-game absence due to COVID-19, helping carry the load after Damien Harris exited the game with a hamstring injury. Stevenson got into the end zone from one and six yards out in the third and fourth quarters, respectively, on his way to a career-high rushing yardage total. Harris did downplay the hamstring issue after the game, but if he were to be rested in the Week 18 finale against the Dolphins as a precaution, Stevenson would presumably be in line for an even heavier workload than Sunday's.

Returns to practice
Stevenson (illness) was back at practice Wednesday after being removed from the reserve/COVID-19 list, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
Impact
Stevenson, who missed last week's loss to the Bills, is thus poised to rejoin the New England backfield for Sunday's game against the Jaguars. He'll be in line to share early down work with Damien Harris, while Brandon Bolden handles a change-of-pace role.

Lands on COVID list, out Sunday
Stevenson (illness) has been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
Impact
Stevenson already had been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Bills, with Ian Rapoport of NFL Network noting that Stevenson's placement on the list was the result of a positive test. Stevenson thus will look to clear the league's COVID protocols ahead of Week 17 action, with both Damien Harris (hamstring) and Brandon Bolden (knee) -- who officially are listed as questionable -- poised to head New England's ground game this weekend, assuming they're active for the team's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff.

Won't play Sunday
Stevenson (illness) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Bills, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
Impact
Stevenson won't be available this weekend after missing practice this past week, and in his absence expect Damien Harris (hamstring) to head the Patriots' Week 16 rushing attack, with Brandon Bolden (knee) serving as the team's primary change-of-pace back. That said, both Harris and Bolden officially are listed as questionable by the team, so it's advisable to confirm their statuses prior to New England's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff Sunday.

Not seen at practice Friday
Stevenson (illness) wasn't spotted at Friday's practice, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
Impact
Given that he was also missing from practice Wednesday and Thursday, Stevenson's status for Sunday's game against the Bills is cloudy. Friday's upcoming injury report will reveal whether the running back heads into the weekend with a chance to suit up for Week 16 action.

Not practicing Thursday
Stevenson (illness) wasn't spotted at practice Thursday, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
Impact
Stevenson missed Wednesday's session as well, so his status for Sunday's game against the Bills is worth closely monitoring. Meanwhile, fellow running backs Damien Harris (hamstring) and Brandon Bolden (knee) began the week as limited practice participants.

Misses practice with illness
Stevenson missed Wednesday's practice due to an illness, Zack Cox of NESN.com reports.
Impact
As a result, Stevenson's status is worth monitoring in advance of Sunday's game against the Bills. Meanwhile, fellow running back Damien Harris (hamstring) logged a limited practice Wednesday after missing the Patriots' Week 15 loss to the Colts. If Stevenson and Harris are both available this weekend, the would likely settle back into a timeshare arrangement.

Not seen at practice Wednesday
Stevenson (undisclosed) wasn't spotted at practice Wednesday, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
Impact
Wednesday's upcoming injury report should add context to Stevenson's absence, but on the plus side in terms of New England's Week 16 backfield situation, Damien Harris (hamstring) and J.J. Taylor (who had been on the reserve/COVID 19) list were on the field during the session, per Evan Lazar of the CLNS Media Network.

Contained by Colts
Stevenson carried the ball 10 times for 36 yards and caught his lone target for four yards in Saturday's 27-17 loss to the Colts.
Impact
With Damien Harris (hamstring) inactive, Stevenson took on lead back duties for the Pats but was mostly held in check and then saw his workload dwindle in the second half after New England fell behind early. It was a disappointing performance for Stevenson after the rookie had topped 60 rushing yards the last four times he saw double-digit carries. Even if Harris returns to the lineup in Week 16, both backs could be busy in a rematch with the Bills.

Starting assignment on tap
Stevenson is expected to serve as New England's lead back Saturday in Indianapolis with Damien Harris (hamstring) ruled out ahead of the contest, Mark Daniels of The Providence Jou...
Impact
When Harris was previously sidelined Week 10 against Cleveland, Stevenson enjoyed a nice coming-out party in New England's 45-7 win, carrying 20 times for 100 yards and two touchdowns while adding four receptions for 14 yards on five targets. The rookie has continued to thrive in a complementary role behind Harris in the Patriots' subsequent three games, averaging 4.3 yards on 15 carries per contest. Stevenson is likely to again flirt with another 20-carry workload if the game flow allows for it, and while he'll likely have a larger role on passing downs than Harris typically does, Brandon Bolden (knee) -- who is listed as questionable -- will remain a factor in those situations if he's active for the contest. Even though he can't be counted on to replicate his big performance versus the Browns, Stevenson still looks like a stellar option for Week 15 fantasy lineups.

Shoulders rushing workload
Stevenson rushed 24 times for 78 yards in Monday night's 14-10 win over the Bills.
Impact
Stevenson was heavily relied upon amid extremely windy conditions as well as an injury to teammate Damien Harris (hamstring). Although Harris still managed 10 carries for 111 yards and a score, he was limited to just one handoff in the second half, clearing the way for Stevenson to lead the backfield. Despite consistently facing stacked defensive fronts with the Pats throwing merely three times all game, hurting his efficiency, Stevenson again showed impressive glimpses of his athletic, physical running style, helping New England win in spite of Monday's unusual circumstances. While now entering the bye week will give Harris some time to heal, if he's restricted once the team reconvenes ahead of Week 15's matchup versus the Colts, Stevenson would figure to remain the chief beneficiary.

Nine carries in Week 12
Stevenson (knee) rushed nine times for 46 yards and didn't catch his only target in Sunday's 36-13 win over Tennessee.
Impact
Stevenson was slightly outplayed by Damien Harris (neck), who had 52 scrimmage yards and a touchdown on 12 touches. The pair of running backs should continue to split carries in Week 13 against the Bills, though it's possible the Patriots will fall behind after playing from ahead for the past few weeks, in which case receiving back Brandon Bolden could carve out a larger role.
