INJURIES

Not seen at practice Thursday Lindsay (ankle) wasn't spotted at Thursday's practice, Joe Schad of The Palm Beach Post reports.
Impact After being listed as limited Wednesday, Lindsay's apparent Thursday absence clouds his status for Sunday's game against the Giants. What he's able to do Friday will be telling, but if he's out or limited this weekend, added snaps behind top back Myles Gaskin would be available for Salvon Ahmed and Patrick Laird.

Limited by ankle issue Lindsay (ankle) was limited at practice Wednesday, Daniel Oyefusi of the Miami Herald reports.
Impact It's unclear if Lindsay is managing an ankle issue stemming from Week 12 action or if he suffered an in-practice setback, but what he does Thursday should add a level of clarity with regard to his Week 13 status. In his debut with the Dolphins in this past Sunday's 33-10 win over the Panthers, Lindsay logged 15 snaps on offense while working behind top back Myles Gaskin (37 snaps), en route to carrying 12 times for 42 yards.

Role could increase Coach Brian Flores said Monday that Lindsay's role on offense could potentially increase, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Impact Flores said that the Dolphins will continue to work Lindsay in at practice, and it looks like the running back could get more involved once fully up to speed with the playbook. Considering the fact that Lindsay handled a sizeable 12 carries during Sunday's win over the Panthers, despite only having had three practices under his belt, it appears that the 27-year-old is quickly making a good impression on his new coaching staff. If Week 13's matchup against the Giants doesn't allow the Dolphins to safely lean on the running game, it will be interesting to see how many opportunities Lindsay receives.

Logs 12 carries in debut Lindsay rushed 12 times for 42 yards in the Dolphins' 33-10 win over the Panthers on Sunday.
Impact Lindsay saw a healthy allotment of carries in his Dolphins debut, notable given he had only three days of practice under his belt. The veteran recorded just four fewer rush attempts and seven fewer rushing yards than Myles Gaskin, although it remains to be seen if the workload split between the two will be that close in games in which the flow doesn't favor the running game as much as Sunday's did. Lindsay's next opportunity to make a favorable impression on his new squad comes in a Week 13 home matchup against the Giants.

Claimed off waivers The Dolphins have claimed Lindsay off waivers from the Texans, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Impact Lindsay, who logged 50 carries for 130 yards and a TD and added three catches for 37 yards and a receiving score in 10 games for the Texans prior to being let go, will now have a chance to secure a role in Miami's backfield behind starter Myles Gaskin. While it remains to be seen what level of volume Lindsay will see with the Dolphins, he does have a chance to resurface as a fantasy option in the coming weeks if he earns a steady role with his new team.
NOVEMBER 24, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Officially cut loose Lindsay was waived by the Texans on Tuesday.
Impact As expected, the running back will now be exposed to waivers, allowing any of the NFL's other 31 teams to put in a claim for him over the next 24 hours. If Lindsay goes unclaimed, he shouldn't have much trouble finding a spot on a practice squad, if he isn't immediately signed to a 53-man roster on a more team-friendly deal. Though he mustered only 2.6 yards per carry on 50 totes over his 10 games with Houston, Lindsay averaged 4.3 YPC or better in each of his previous three seasons in the NFL with Denver. He also showed some ability as a receiver, recording 77 catches over that three-year stretch.

Texans Release RB Phillip Lindsay Houston Texans running back Phillip Lindsay was released by the team on Tuesday.
NOVEMBER 23, 2021 • NESN.COM
Time in Houston ending The Texans plan to waive Lindsay on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of Sportstalk 790 Houston reports.
Impact Expect the team to formally announce the transaction later Tuesday. Even with Houston moving lead back Mark Ingram to New Orleans prior to the trade deadline earlier this month, Lindsay hadn't seen an uptick in work out of the Houston backfield, as both David Johnson and Rex Burkhead had slotted ahead of him in the pecking order. Lindsay didn't help his case for earning more work by averaging a lowly 2.6 yards per carry on 50 totes while making a negligible impact in the passing game. Some shaky offensive line play undoubtedly contributed to Lindsay's struggles, so expect the 27-year-old to generate a fair amount of interest from other teams once he hits the waiver wire. In his prior three seasons with Denver, Lindsay averaged a healthy 4.8 yards per carry and showcased more ability as a pass catcher.
NOVEMBER 23, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Low man in backfield Lindsay had one carry for minus-3 yards and played just two snaps in Sunday's 22-13 win over the Titans.
Impact Lindsay appears to have fallen down the depth chart, as David Johnson (35 snaps) and Rex Burkhead (27) were the preferred backs on a rain-soaked field in Nashville (Tenn.). His lone carry came in the red zone, the first play after Houston linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill intercepted a Ryan Tannehill pass and returned it 82 yards to the Titans' six-yard-line. And that was it for Lindsay. Johnson's been used primarily as a receiving back, but his 13 carries and 35 snaps were season highs. Burkhead had been a non-factor all season until Week 11. That uncertainty in the backfield suggests Lindsay being third on the depth chart could be a temporary development. Johnson and Burkhead combined for 1.9 yards per carry (31 carries, 58 yards), so there could chances for Lindsay down the road.

QB woes have Texans on 8-game skid entering off week

Paces backfield in carries Lindsay rushed eight times for 28 yards and wasn't targeted in the passing game during the Texans' 17-9 loss to the Dolphins on Sunday.
Impact The veteran back outpaced backfield mates David Johnson and Rex Burkhead by four and six carries, respectively, in the loss. Lindsay had logged only three carries in Week 8 against the Rams in what was Houston's first game since trading away Mark Ingram, so it's difficult to determine whether Sunday's volume will carry over past the Week 10 bye and into a Week 11 road matchup against the Titans.

Texans looking ahead after latest loss extends skid to 7

Houston's skid is up to seven games after Sunday's 38-22 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday
NOVEMBER 1, 2021 • Associated Press
Gets no bump in role Lindsay had three carries for eight yards in Sunday's 38-22 loss to the Rams.
Impact There was anticipation centered on Houston's backfield Sunday, the first game without Mark Ingram as its leader. Lindsay and David Johnson received most of the attention, but the backfield winner turned out to be Rex Burkhead, who led the group in snap count (30) and scored a touchdown. There could be further shakeup heading into the Nov. 2 trade deadline, which could have been the reason for highlighting Burkhead. For now, it looks like Lindsay received no perceptible benefit from the trade.

Future waiver wire: Salvon Ahmed, Phillip Lindsay and more players to target early for Week 9 David Gonos gazes into his crystal ball and points out the players, like Salvon Ahmed, who will be top waiver targets ahead of Week 8.
OCTOBER 29, 2021 • THEATHLETIC.COM
Candidate for added carries Lindsay figures to see added touches going forward with Mark Ingram slated to be traded to the Saints, Brooks Kubena of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact The same applies to fellow RB David Johnson, while Rex Burkhead and possibly even Scottie Phillips could also factor in, but with Ingram -- who led the Texans with 92 carries for 294 yards in seven games -- no longer in the mix, we'd expect Lindsay, who's been limited to 38 carries for 97 yards to date, to see an uptick in carries in the weeks ahead. With Johnson also on hand, a time-share is still in play, but Lindsay now at least has a chance to make a fantasy impact, with added touches up for grabs.
OCTOBER 27, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Does little in loss Lindsay had two carries for eight yards in Sunday's 31-5 loss to the Cardinals.
Impact Lindsay had a season-low four snaps and has been on the field for just 18.3 percent of available offensive plays this season. The Texans want to have a viable running game, but they usually find themselves playing from behind. Even when in position to move via the ground, the Texans have had difficulty. Sunday's loss was the fifth time in seven games that Houston's averaged fewer than three yards per carry.
OCTOBER 25, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Tops 50 scrimmage yards Lindsay rushed seven times for 39 yards and caught both of his targets for another 15 yards in Sunday's 31-3 loss to the Colts.
Impact Lindsay got nine touches while Mark Ingram led Houston's backfield with 20 and David Johnson settled for just three and lost a fumble. Ingram's the only player who gets consistent work in this backfield, and none of the three Houston running backs will be especially appealing options in Week 7 against the heavily favored Cardinals.
OCTOBER 17, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Limited run in loss Lindsay gained 19 yards on five carries and was not targeted in Sunday's 25-22 loss to the Patriots.
Impact The Texans' ground game was once again bottled up, and Lindsay once again played a secondary role to Mark Ingram. Lindsay has 30 total touches through five games, which is not enough to warrant a spot on many fantasy rosters.
