Dolphins have many millions to spend, many decisions to make

The Miami Dolphins had around $52 million to spend in free agency when things began
MARCH 10, 2022 • Associated Press
Modest yardage Sunday Lindsay carried the ball 11 times for 40 yards in Sunday's 33-24 win over the Patriots.
Impact He took a back seat to Duke Johnson once again in the Miami backfield, but Lindsay's 40 rushing yards were actually a season high for him, and he saw more action than Myles Gaskin (four touches for 10 total yards). Gaskin is the only one of the three under contract for 2022, and Lindsay's 294 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns across 14 games for the Texans and Dolphins won't make the 27-year-old a high priority on the free-agent market, either for Miami or for any other club.

Bridgewater wants to play in '22 with future uncertain again

Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater says he still wants to play football beyond this season even though he suffered two concussions
JANUARY 6, 2022 • Associated Press
Barely involved in blowout loss Lindsay had two carries for one yard during Sunday's 34-3 loss to the Titans.
Impact Lindsay also secured his lone target for eight yards, though both Duke Johnson (seven carries) and Myles Gaskin (five carries) logged more touches out of the backfield. Miami's three-headed rushing attack can't be relied upon to provide consistent fantasy value in matchups where Tua Tagovailoa struggles to move the offense, and a Week 18 divisional contest against New England's dominant defense may not provide many scoring opportunities.

Phillip Lindsay - Postgame Week 16 ' Press Conference RB Phillip Lindsay met with the media on December 27, 2021, following the Dolphins' Week 16 win over the Saints.

Makes return to backfield Lindsay rushed 13 times for 36 yards in Monday night's 20-3 win over the Saints.
Impact Lindsay made his first appearance since Week 12 and matched Duke Johnson for Miami's team lead in carries. Although neither tailback found much room to run versus a tough Saints front seven, Lindsay only managed three yards fewer than Johnson, who exploded for over 120 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns last weekend. Despite competing with Myles Gaskin for snaps as well, Lindsay's immediate involvement in his return is an encouraging sign for his usage ahead of Week 17's matchup versus the Titans, even if the Dolphins still rely on a committee approach barring one of their tailbacks emerging as the hot hand.

Puts in full practice Lindsay (ankle) was a full participant in Friday's practice.
Impact Lindsay hasn't suited up since Week 12. The ankle injury kept him out Week 13, the Dolphins were on bye Week 14 and a stint on the reserve/COVID-19 list made him unavailable for Week 15. Now that he's back practicing fully after he was limited in his return to the field Thursday, Lindsay looks like he's in the clear to play Monday versus the Saints. He's not guaranteed to have a role or even be active for the contest, however, as Duke Johnson's big outing in the Week 15 win over the Jets presumably leaves him (and Myles Gaskin) ahead of Lindsay in the pecking order. If Miami elects to keep only three backs active Monday, the final spot will likely come down to Lindsay or Salvon Ahmed.

Limited in Thursday's walkthrough Lindsay (ankle) was listed as limited on Thursday's practice estimate, David Furones of the Sun Sentinel reports.
Impact Lindsay was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list earlier this week, but he's still bothered by the ankle injury he sustained prior to Week 13. If he regains health before Monday's game against the Saints, it's unclear what role Linsday would play in a Dolphins backfield that also features Myles Gaskin, Duke Johnson and Salvon Ahmed.

Coming off COVID-19 list Lindsay (ankle) is slated to be activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Impact Lindsay spent a week on the reserve/COVID-19 list and was unavailable for Sunday's game against the Jets, but he'll now be able to rejoin the Dolphins for practice. The 27-year-old dealt with an ankle injury prior to being placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list, and it's not yet clear whether the issue will impact his availability for Monday's game against the Saints.
DECEMBER 20, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Not activated off COVID-19 list Lindsay (ankle) was not activated off the reserve/COVID-19 list and will not be eligible to play Sunday against the Jets, Daniel Oyefusi of The Miami Herald reports.
Impact Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed were both activated off the reserve/COVID-19 list Friday meaning the Dolphins will have two of their top three backs eligible to play Sunday, with Duke Johnson also on hand to provide depth. Lindsay attempted 12 carries for 42 yards back in Week 12, his lone game with the Dolphins after spending most of the 2021 campaign with the Texans.

Dolphins place 2 more players in virus protocols

The Miami Dolphins now have four players on the NFL’s COVID-19 reserve list after adding safety Jevon Holland and running back Phillip Lindsay there on Monday
DECEMBER 13, 2021 • Associated Press
Tests positive for COVID-19 Lindsay (ankle) has tested positive for COVID-19, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Impact Lindsay had been dealing with an ankle injury recently, and he's now the third Dolphins running back to test positive for COVID-19 across the last several days. Lindsay, Myles Gaskin (illness) and Salvon Ahmed (illness) are all vaccinated, but the Dolphins brought in Lamar Miller for a workout Monday, while Duke Johnson and Gerrid Doaks could be called up from the practice squad if Miami's backfield is shorthanded Sunday against the Jets.
DECEMBER 13, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Participating in walkthrough Dolphins head coach Brian Flores said that Lindsay (ankle) will participate in Wednesday's walk-through practice, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Impact Flores specifically mentioned the running game as an area the Dolphins need to improve, so Lindsay could be in store for a heightened role if the ankle injury that kept him out of Sunday's win over the Giants doesn't prevent him from suiting up coming out of Miami's Week 14 bye. In his Miami debut Week 12, Lindsay worked ahead of Salvon Ahmed as the No. 2 option behind Myles Gaskin, finishing with 12 carries for 42 yards in a win over the Panthres.
