Returns to practice squad Lindsay reverted to the Colts' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official trans action log.
Impact Lindsay received the promotion with Jonathan Taylor (ankle) out Sunday against the Patriots. The veteran running back saw nine plays on offense, getting one carry for two yards, and he was unable to catch his only target. If Taylor is unable to suit up Week 10 against the Raiders, Lindsay could receive another chance with the active roster.
NOVEMBER 7, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Bumped up to active roster Lindsay was elevated to the active roster Saturday, Zak Keefer of The Athletic reports.
Impact This was predictable after the Colts announced Friday that Jonathan Taylor (ankle) would not play. Lindsay tallied 14 carries for 47 yards to go along with six catches for 19 yards in the two games Taylor missed earlier this season, but that came before the emergence of Deon Jackson, who is slated to start Sunday's game, and the arrival of former Bills running back Zack Moss, who could be a candidate for carries if he's able to get a grip on the playbook.
NOVEMBER 5, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Likely to be elevated again Lindsay is likely to be called up from the Colts' practice squad for Sunday's game against the Patriots with Jonathan Taylor (ankle) ruled out, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
Impact Lindsay racked up 14 carries and six catches in two previous appearances for Indianapolis while working behind Deon Jackson with Taylor sidelined. He's likely to slide into the No. 2 role behind Jackson once again Week 9, as recent trade acquisition Zack Moss is unlikely to see significant playing time so soon after being brought in.

Stagnant offense forces Colts to make midseason changes

Coach Frank Reich can't explain it
NOVEMBER 2, 2022 • Associated Press
Moves back to practice squad Lindsay reverted to the Colts' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Impact Lindsay was elevated for the second game in a row, as top running backs Jonathan Taylor (ankle) and Nyheim Hines (concussion) sat out during Sunday's 34-27 win over the Jaguars. Lindsay recorded three carries for seven yards and caught all three of his targets for another five yards. He also converted a two-point conversion on a late rush, and he wound up playing 27 of Indianapolis' 81 offensive snaps behind Deon Jackson (quad). Lindsay will now be eligible for just one more elevation from the Colts' practice squad before requiring a full roster spot in order to continue suiting up this season.

Modest showing in win Lindsay rushed three times for seven yards and secured all three targets for five yards in the Colts' 34-27 win over the Jaguars on Sunday. He also recorded a two-point conversion...
Impact Deon Jackson exited late in the game with a quad injury per Andrew Walker of the team's official site, and Lindsay therefore got the call on a key two-point conversion run with 17 seconds remaining following Alec Pierce's game-winning 32-yard touchdown grab. The veteran has been elevated from the practice squad for the last pair of contests due to Jonathan Taylor's (ankle) absence, and if Jackson's injury lingers, Lindsay could garner active status yet again in a Week 7 road divisional clash with the Titans even if Taylor is active for the contest.
OCTOBER 16, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Rejoins active roster Indianapolis elevated Lindsay from the practice squad to its active roster Saturday ahead of Sunday's game versus Jacksonville.
Impact It will be the second consecutive week Lindsay is active for the Colts after he accumulated 54 scrimmage yards on 14 touches in Week 5. After Sunday's game versus the Jaguars, he will be eligible for only one more elevation from the practice squad before he would have to be signed to the team's active roster in order to suit up.

Colts will be missing top 2 running backs against Jaguars

The Indianapolis Colts will face Jacksonville on Sunday without either of their top two running backs
OCTOBER 15, 2022 • Associated Press
Not present Wednesday Lindsay (undisclosed) was not present during Wednesday's practice, Kevin Bowen of 1075 The Fan reports.
Impact With Jonathan Taylor (ankle) sidelined, Lindsay was elevated from the practice squad for Week 5 and immediately saw an expanded role after Nyheim Hines (concussion) left the game following the Colts' first possession. It's unclear why Lindsay missed practice, but his absence is concerning given Taylor was held out of practice as well and Hines was limited to non-contact drills, leaving Deon Jackson and D'Vonte Price, who's on the team's practice squad, as the only healthy running backs participating Wednesday. More clarity on the Colts' backfield will come following Thursday and Friday's practices.
OCTOBER 12, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Back to practice squad Lindsay reverted to the Colts' practice squad Friday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Impact With Jonathan Taylor (ankle) out, Lindsay was elevated to the active roster ahead of Thursday's contest, and the latter immediately saw an expanded role after Nyheim Hines (concussion) had to leave the game following the Colts' first offensive drive. Lindsay played 30 of the team's 79 offensive snaps, finishing second among running backs behind Deon Jackson's 46, and ended with 14 touches for 54 total yards. If Taylor remains sidelined for Week 6, expect Lindsay and Jackson to continue garnering major roles for Indianapolis' offense.
OCTOBER 7, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Solid showing in season debut Lindsay rushed 11 times for 40 yards and secured three of four targets for 14 yards in the Colts' 12-9 overtime win over the Broncos on Thursday night.
Impact Called up from the practice squad earlier in the day, Lindsay did a serviceable job in tandem with Deon Jackson to help make up for the absence of Jonathan Taylor (ankle). The veteran Lindsay got off to a fast start against his original squad before losing some of his efficiency on his later carries. If Taylor can't suit up for a Week 6 home matchup against the Jaguars a week from Sunday, it's conceivable Lindsay sees another elevation to the active roster.

Colts activate Phillip Lindsay to fill in for Jonathan Taylor vs. Broncos With Jonathan Taylor out against the Broncos, Phillip Lindsay could see a large rushing role against his former team.
OCTOBER 6, 2022 • INDYSTAR.COM
Officially elevated to roster The Colts elevated Lindsay from their practice squad to the 53-man roster ahead of Thursday's game against the Broncos, JJ Stankevitz of the team's official site reports.
Impact Lindsay will be making his Colts debut in his old stomping grounds in Denver, where he spent the first three seasons of his career after joining the Broncos in 2018 as an undrafted free agent. The 5-foot-8 back averaged 4.8 yards per carry during his time in Denver, but he's struggled to stick on an NFL roster since the 2021 campaign, bouncing around between the Texans, Dolphins and Colts organizations while managing only 2.8 yards per tote. According to Zak Keefer of The Athletic, the Colts are likely to deploy Lindsay as part of a timeshare with Nyheim Hines in Week 5 while Indianapolis is without workhorse back Jonathan Taylor. Expect Lindsay to get most of his usage in early down or short-yardage/goal-line situations, while Hines should serve as the top change-of-pace option while also absorbing some of Taylor's vacated workload on the ground.

Stage is Set for Phillip Lindsay Revenge Game Indianapolis Colts running back Phillip Lindsay will get a chance against his former team Thursday night.
OCTOBER 6, 2022 • STAR-TELEGRAM.COM
Will join Indy for Week 5 The Colts plan to elevate Lindsay from the practice squad ahead of Thursday's game in Denver, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Impact Indianapolis will make the transaction official later Thursday, allowing Lindsay to make his 2022 debut later in the night against one of his former teams. Since clearing 1,000 yards rushing in both of his first two seasons in the league with Denver, Lindsay has seen his effectiveness wane over the subsequent two years while bouncing around between the Broncos, Texans and Dolphins. Lindsay had been previously cut by the Colts following the preseason, but he could find himself in a timeshare with Nyheim Hines out the backfield Thursday in the absence of bell cow Jonathan Taylor (ankle). Since Hines is better suited for a change-of-pace/pass-catching duties rather than handling heavy volume on the ground, Lindsay may serve as the Colts' primary back on early downs and in short-yardage situations. Deon Jackson also looms as another option out of the backfield, though the Colts may prefer to keep him in his usual special-teams role.
