INJURIES

Misses another practice Fant (leg) didn't practice Wednesday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
Impact The tight end continues to manage an unspecified left leg injury, but DiLalla relayed Tuesday that Fant's issue is not believed to be a long-term concern. When the 2019 first-round pick returns to the field, he'll look to continue to build chemistry with Teddy Bridgewater, who was named the Broncos' starting quarterback Wednesday.

Nursing leg issue Fant didn't participate at Tuesday's practice due to a leg injury, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
Impact The specifics of the issue remain unclear, though coach Vic Fangio indicated it isn't believed to be a serious concern. Fant seemingly picked up the injury during last Saturday's preseason matchup with the Seahawks, when he wasn't targeted in 21 offensive snaps. Even if the 23-year-old makes a quick return to practice, he may not see much, if any, action during Saturday's preseason finale versus the Rams.

Nick Kosmider: Vic Fangio said Noah Fant missed practice today... - The Athletic Vic Fangio said Noah Fant missed practice today because of a leg issue, but he doesn’t expect TE1 to be out an extended period of time.

Quiet in limited role Fant wasn't targeted in 21 offensive snaps in Saturday's 30-3 win over the Seahawks.
Impact Fant was a non-factor in Week 2 of the preseason, but the 23-year-old tight end figures to be a key component of the Broncos' passing attack in 2021. According to Nick Kosmider of The Athletic, Fant likely will be used in creative ways and run routes deeper down field, as well. The 6-foot-4, 249-pounder will compete for targets with the likes of Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy and KJ Hamler in the passing game, so it may be tough for him to find consistent production in the Denver offense. However, it appears the coaching staff would like to get Fant more involved, so the former first-round pick may earn a solid percentage of the target share among Denver's pass catchers.

Broncos QB competition still neck and neck after first week

Neither Drew Lock nor Teddy Bridgewater has separated himself from the other a week into their training camp competition to serve as the Denver Broncos' starting quarterback
AUGUST 4, 2021 • Associated Press
Looks to make impact in variety of ways Based on what he's seen early on in training camp, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic suggests that Fant "is likely to be used in more creative ways" during his second campaign working...
Impact Fant, who recorded a team-high 62 catches (on 93 targets) for 673 yards and three TDs in 15 games last season, is going to be a big part of Denver's passing attack, regardless of who the team's QB is, an outcome that's pending an ongoing competition between Teddy Bridgewater and Drew Lock. Per the report, getting Fant -- who averaged 10.9 yards per reception last season, which was down from his 14.1 mark as a rookie -- "involved deeper down the field appears to be a priority" early in training camp, with the 2019 first-rounder noting that he expects to make an impact on all sorts of routes (deep, intermediate and short) this season. Wideouts Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy, KJ Hamler and Tim Patrick no doubt will command their share of targets, but if Fant indeed is utilized in a variety of ways, there should be enough looks for him to maintain steady fantasy utility in 2021.

Impact In his third season as a pro, Fant is being counted on to be a big part of the Broncos' passing game, regardless of who earns the team's starting signal caller job. The 2019 first-rounder logged 62 catches (on 93 targets) for 673 yards and three TDs in 15 games last season, numbers that the 6-foot-4, 249-pounder will look to eclipse this season in an aerial attack that should be more balanced thanks to the return of Courtland Sutton from a knee injury, which bolsters a wideout corps that also includes 2020 first-rounder Jerry Jeudy, big-bodied Tim Patrick and KJ Hamler, a second-round pick last year.
