Heads to IR The Ravens placed Boyle (knee) on injured reserve Tuesday, Clifton Brown of the team's official site reports.
Impact This move was inevitable after coach John Harbaugh ruled Boyle out for the year following Sunday's loss to the Patriots. The nature of his injury hasn't been revealed. Mark Andrews is the only remaining tight end on the active roster, so the Ravens signed Luke Willson to the practice squad to join Xavier Grimble and Sean Culkin as potential replacements moving forward.

Finds end zone against Eagles Boyle caught all three of his targets for 33 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Eagles.
Impact Boyle is now up to two touchdowns on the season, matching his total from 2019. He played 56 snaps, good for 77 percent of the team's total offensive plays and his highest percentage since Week 2 against the Texans. Boyle is a minor red-zone weapon for the Ravens, but weeks where he outproduces Mark Andrews will remain few and far between. He'll be on a bye this week before returning to action Week 8 against the Steelers.

One reception in win Boyle caught one of two targets for a two-yard gain Sunday in the Ravens' 27-3 win over the Bengals.
Impact Boyle played his largest offensive snap share of the season (62 percent), but it didn't translate to any increased involvement in the passing game. His elevated usage was a result of the Ravens wanting to limit the wear and tear on top tight end Mark Andrews, who was questionable heading into the contest with a thigh injury. Assuming the Ravens' Week 6 game against the Eagles proves more competitive, Andrews should take on a higher share of the snaps, resulting in lighter use for Boyle.

Impact Boyle was able to progress from non-participation in Wednesday's practice, to full practice Friday. Now that the veteran out of Delaware is officially healthy, he'll assume his usual role as Baltimore's second tight end for Week 5.

Impact The 27-year-old was a non-participant to begin the week but was able to progress to full participation for Friday's practice. Boyle seems likely to play his usual role as Baltimore's secondary tight end Sunday barring a setback.
OCTOBER 9, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Can't practice Wednesday Boyle did not practice Wednesday due to a thigh injury, Daniel Oyefusi of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Impact Boyle played his usual offensive role (67 percent of snaps) during Sunday's win over Washington, during which he caught his only chance for nine yards. He'll have two more chances to resume practicing before the Ravens tag him with an injury designation for Week 5.
