Impact Kenny Pickett will remain out for a third game in a row while recovering from tightrope surgery on his right ankle, but Trubisky will be bumped down to second on the depth chart in favor of Rudolph after starting the prior two contests. Trubisky went 0-2 during his brief run as a starter, completing 38 of 58 pass attempts for 359 yards (6.2 YPA), two touchdowns and three interceptions while adding 31 yards and two scores on 10 carries. The Steelers benched Trubisky late in this past Saturday's 30-13 loss to the Colts and turned to Rudolph, who will now get his first start since the 2021 season. Pickett was a limited participant in practice Tuesday through Thursday and could be ready to return to the lineup Week 17 versus the Seahawks, so Trubisky may find himself as a healthy inactive for that contest as the Steelers' emergency No. 3 quarterback.

Impact With Pickett set to be inactive for the second week in a row, Mason Rudolph will serve as the No. 2 quarterback behind Trubisky, who could have a shorter leash in Week 15 after turning in a listless showing against the 3-10 Patriots in this past Thursday's 21-18 loss. He completed 22 of 35 passes for 190 yards, one touchdown and one interception and added 30 yards and a score on eight carries, and he was spared another interception in the first half when a Patriots defender was called for pass interference. Trubisky profiles as a lower-end fantasy option for Week 15, though the rushing ability that he displayed this past Thursday and during his time with the Bears could give him some appeal in leagues that start two quarterbacks or have a QB flex spot.

Impact Making his first start of Kenny Pickett's (ankle) multi-game absence, Trubisky turned in a lackluster effort that featured plenty of inaccurate throws and just 5.4 yards per attempt. The veteran did serve as the Steelers' leading rusher -- albeit with a modest yardage total -- and connected with Diontae Johnson on a 25-yard touchdown pass late in the second quarter. Trubisky added a one-yard scoring sneak early in the fourth quarter following a blocked punt that set the Steelers up in excellent field position, and he added a sharp two-point conversion pass to Pat Freiermuth after that touchdown. However, Pittsburgh's next two drives ended in a punt and on downs, and Trubisky then padded his final numbers with 24- and 21-yard completions to Johnson and Allen Robinson, respectively, on the final two plays. With some additional time between Thursday's contest and a Week 15 Saturday afternoon road matchup against the Colts on Dec. 16, it remains to be seen if Trubisky is usurped by Mason Rudolph for a start if Pickett remains out as is highly likely.
