Week 1 hero Trubisky completed 20 of 32 passes for 242 yards and three touchdowns while adding 26 yards on the ground in Chicago's 27-23 victory over the Lions on Sunday.
Impact After struggling through the first three quarters, Trubisky rewarded fantasy managers who started him by throwing three fourth-quarter touchdown strikes to pull out the victory for Chicago. Although there's no way to know if he'll retain the starting job for the long term, it would be a surprise if he wasn't under center in Week 2 against the Giants at Soldier Field,. However, he offers little consistent upside, making him useful only in leagues that start two quarterbacks.

Officially named starting QB Head coach Matt Nagy announced that Trubisky will start Week 1 versus the Lions, Jeff Dickerson of ESPN reports.
Impact The news was leaked a couple of days prior to the official announcement, but now it's set in stone that Trubisky will be afforded another opportunity to live up to his second-overall selection in the 2017 NFL Draft. Nagy emphasized multiple times that Trubisky won the competition on his own merit, relaying that the quarterback improved his footwork, accuracy and command this offseason. Nevertheless, his performance in 2019 was uninspiring with 3,138 yards, 17 touchdowns and 10 interceptions over 15 games, and if he begins the year with the same caliber of play, Nagy could quickly shift to backup QB Nick Foles, who apparently had a strong camp as well.

SEPTEMBER 4, 2020 • THESCORE.COM
Expected to start Week 1 Trubisky is expected to be the Bears' starting quarterback Week 1 against the Lions, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Impact Schefter's sources cited that Trubisky's "progression, leadership and overall performance" earned him the job, although Nick Foles made it a close battle. This was the likely outcome all along, as it's still Trubisky's team despite his unimpressive 2019 showing that resulted in 3,138 yards, 17 touchdowns and 10 interceptions over 15 games. Trubisky will likely be on a short leash with Foles as a backup.

Still in starting contention Coach Matt Nagy confirmed Saturday neither Trubisky or Nick Foles will be listed as the starter before the team's Week 1 matchup against the Lions, Jeff Dickerson of ESPN.com repor...
Impact It seems like a bit of gamesmanship on behalf of the Bears, as Nagy did suggest the team will know who the starter is during that first week of practice ahead of Week 1. All indications from beat writers seem to lean toward Foles as the frontrunner, but only because of Trubisky's struggles throughout training camp. With two weeks left of the "preseason," it's possible the 2017 No. 3 overall pick could play his way into the starting lineup with a handful of solid practices.
