Another blown lead has Chargers reeling going into bye week

Missed field goal Badgley missed his lone field-goal attempt and made three of his four extra-points attempts in Monday's 30-27 overtime loss to the Saints.

Impact Badgley had a chance to win the game for the Chargers in regulation, but the 50-yard attempt clanked off the right upright. This marks his second missed field goal from 50 yards this season and fourth out of six tries in his career. The Chargers are on bye for Week 6 and return the following week to face Jacksonville.

The Chargers' offense has been unusually successful in converting scoring opportunities, thus limiting the need for Badgley.

Impact Badgley was robbed of an additional extra-point attempt when the Chargers were forced to go for a two-point conversation late in the game. The third-year kicker has missed just one attempt all season, and has missed just two attempts from inside the 40 throughout his entire career, although the Chargers' offense has struggled at times to put him within his ideal range.

Impact The Chargers' offense looked pretty impressive after rookie quarterback Justin Herbert stepped in for the injured Tyrod Taylor (ribs), which set Badgley up nicely for extra points. Badgley's only missed field goal this season came from 50 yards. After his 43-yard attempt this week was a success, the 25-year-old has yet to miss a kick from 40 yards or shorter this season. Next week's game against the Panthers should set up well for Badgley, as the Panthers have allowed a total of six field goals through two weeks.

Given the lack of efficient play Sunday, the 25-year-old might find it difficult to generate a similar type of fantasy production next week against the Chiefs.
