Sticks with Jacksonville The Jaguars' signed Sargent to a reserve/future contract Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Impact Sargent landed a practice-squad deal with the Jaguars after failing to make the team's initial 53-man roster to begin the season. He was never elevated for any contests, but with his new contract, he'll be able to stick around the organization and compete for a larger role during the offseason. The Iowa product made seven appearances for three different teams (Jaguars, Rams and Titans) during his rookie campaign in 2021, totaling 16 touches for 71 yards.

Totals 57 scrimmage yards Sargent had five carries for 22 yards and caught all five of his targets for 37 yards in Thursday's preseason loss to the Raiders.

Impact Sargent led Jacksonville in both carries and receptions with the team's top weapons all sitting out the Hall of Fame Game. Snoop Conner currently is listed as the No. 3 running back behind Travis Etienne (illness) and James Robinson (Achilles), but Sargent may be the next man up, which could result in significant run during the preseason.

Receives contract tender The Jaguars have extended a contract tender to Sargent.

Impact Sargent, who was claimed off waivers by the Jaguars from the Rams this past December, played in seven total games in 2021 en route to recording five carries for 11 yards. Looking ahead to the coming season, the 5-8, 208-pounder will look to compete for a depth role in a Jacksonville backfield that also includes James Robinson (Achilles) and Travis Etienne (foot).

Receives one carry in finale Sargent had one carry for two yards and failed to catch his lone target during Sunday's 26-11 win over the Colts.

Impact Sargent was inactive for his first game with Jacksonville after being claimed off waivers in late December, but he suited up and played two offensive snaps during the third quarter Week 18. The rookie UDFA out of Iowa will enter the offseason as an exclusive rights free agent, so he'll remain with the Jaguars if the team tenders him a contract.

Impact Sargent was claimed off waivers from the Rams at the start of the week but won't be suiting up for his first game with the Jaguars. Nathan Cottrell is up from the practice squad to provide depth behind Dare Ogunbowale and Ryquell Armstead.

Impact Sargent was waived by the Rams over the weekend but was quickly able to latch on with a new team. Jacksonville lost starting tailback James Robinson to a torn Achilles, and Sargent should provide backfield depth in the wake of the injury. Dare Ogunbowale is the current favorite to take over as the Jaguars' top running back down the stretch.

Impact The 24-year-old running back spelled Sony Michel at the end of the game in garbage time for his two rushes, so he was hardly a factor in the game plan. Additionally, once Darrell Henderson (thigh) is healthy, Sargent will likely be entirely uninvolved in the offense.

Impact The undrafted rookie out of Iowa earned a spot on the Week 1 roster, but he may be a healthy scratch or otherwise limited to special teams to start his career. Derrick Henry will continue handling the vast majority of carries in Tennessee, with Jeremy McNichols likely handling a backup role that includes work on passing downs. Sargent would be an occasional sub on early downs, at most, and he may even lose his roster spot if/when Darrynton Evans (IR - knee) returns.

More opportunity against Bucs Sargent carried the ball 16 times for 78 yards in Saturday's preseason game against Tampa Bay. He also added one reception for five yards and a touchdown.

Impact Sargent once again led the team in carries and was by far the most effective back. He got work throughout the game and found the end zone on a five-yard reception for the Titans' first points of the contest. Sargent also recorded several chunk gains on the ground, including a 16-yard run as well two attempts that went for 15 yards. Sargent entered the preseason as a longshot to make the roster, but he has taken advantage of the opportunities he's been given to this point.
