INJURIES

Signs with New Orleans Brown (quadriceps) signed with the Saints on Tuesday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
Impact Brown landed on Miami's IR with a quadriceps injury in October of 2021 and consequently missed the rest of the campaign. He saw five rush attempts per game through Week 6 with the Dolphins after managing more than 100 totes with the Rams in 2020. It's possible he could see meaningful carries if top back Alvin Kamara misses time down the road as expected due to a suspension. Also currently in New Orleans' backfield mix are Mark Ingram, Tony Jones, Dwayne Washington, Devine Ozigbo and Abram Smith.

Won't come off IR Dolphins head coach Brian Flores said Wednesday that Brown (quadriceps) won't be activated from injured reserve ahead of Sunday's season finale against the Patriots, Travis Wingfie...
Impact Brown was designated to return from IR in mid-December, but his 2021 season will come to an end without him making another appearance. Through seven games prior to suffering his quad injury, Brown handled 33 carries for 125 yards and a score. He also secured three of five targets for 10 yards.

Not ready to return The Dolphins didn't activate Brown (quad) off IR ahead off Sunday's game against the Jets, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.
Impact Meanwhile, per Daniel Oyefusi of the Miami Herald, Phillip Lindsay will remain on the reserve/COVID-19 list , which sets the stage for Miami's Week 15 backfield to include Myles Gaskin, Salvon Ahmed and Duke Johnson.
DECEMBER 18, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Designated for return to practice The Dolphins have designated Brown (quadriceps) to return from IR, Doug Kyed of Pro Football Focus reports.
Impact Brown appears to have a real chance at retaking the field Week 15 versus the Jets, and his return to practice is a notable step in the right direction. The veteran running back hasn't played since Week 7 due to a lingering quad injury. All of Myles Gaskin, Salvon Ahmed and Phillip Lindsay currently reside on the COVID-19 list after having returned positive tests, and though all three could have a chance to face New York due to being vaccinated, it's also possible that Brown could end up operating as one of the only available options in a backfield that currently only houses a healthy Duke Johnson.

Could make Week 15 return The Dolphins anticipate Brown (quadriceps) will resume practicing this week, and he could be activated from injured reserve ahead of Sunday's game against the Jets, Barry Jackson o...
Impact Before suffering the quad injury Week 7 and landing on IR, Brown had been a secondary member of a Miami backfield committee headlined by Myles Gaskin. In seven appearances, Brown averaged 5.1 touches and 19.3 yards per game, but he could be headed for his largest workload of the season if he's activated from IR for Week 15. At the moment, Duke Johnson is the only healthy back on the 53-man roster, as the three players ahead of him on the depth chart -- Gaskin, Phillip Lindsay and Salvon Ahmed -- have all tested positive for COVID-19 in recent days. Since all three players are vaccinated, they'll have a shot at suiting up Sunday if they can clear the necessary protocols in expedient fashion, but Brown could still have a role on offense if he's able to show the quad injury isn't bothering him in practice. Miami will likely officially designate Brown for return from IR later this week.
DECEMBER 13, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Remains sidelined Wednesday Brown (quadriceps) won't participate in Wednesday's walk-through practice, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Impact Brown remains on injured reserve and hasn't yet recovered from the quad injury that he sustained Week 7. It's not yet clear when he'll be able to return, but the Dolphins may revisit where he stands in the rehab process when the team returns from its Week 14 bye.
DECEMBER 8, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Still not ready to practice Coach Brian Flores said Friday that Brown (quadriceps) will not be ready to resume practicing Week 13, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.
Impact The Dolphins will go on bye after Sunday's game against the Giants, so Brown's next opportunity to play will come Week 15. With Phillip Lindsay (ankle) having joined Miami's running back room, the team doesn't have any real incentive to rush Brown back on the field until he's fully healthy.
DECEMBER 3, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Unlikely to return Week 12 Dolphins head coach Brian Flores said that Brown (quadriceps) won't be designated to return from injured reserve Wednesday, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Impact Brown hasn't played since Week 7 due to a hamstring injury, and the Dolphins' unwilling to clear him to practice at the start of Week 12 prep signals that he'll remain out Sunday against Carolina. Flores said that all of Brown, Will Fuller (finger) and DeVante Parker (shoulder) are all at the very least getting closer to a return, but for now, the running back will likely have to set his sights on making his next appearance Dec. 5 against the Giants.
NOVEMBER 24, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Won't return in Week 11 Brown (quadriceps) won't be activated from injured reserve ahead of Sunday's game against the Jets, Hal Habib of The Palm Beach Post reports.
Impact Brown was placed on IR in late October and has been sidelined for three games, but he'll be forced to miss at least one more contest while he recovers from a quad injury. Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed will continue to serve as the Dolphins' top rushing options in Week 11.

NFL Week 8 injury report: What to know about Zach Wilson, Von Miller, more
Goes on IR The Dolphins placed Brown (quadriceps) on injured reserve Tuesday.
Impact As expected, Brown will head to IR and miss the Dolphins' next three games after sustaining the quad injury in Sunday's 30-28 loss to the Falcons. With Brown out of the mix, Miami is left with Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed as its lone healthy running backs. Expect the Dolphins to elevate at least one of Patrick Laird, Duke Johnson or Gerrid Doaks from the practice squad ahead of the team's Week 8 game in Buffalo to provide a third option behind Gaskin and Ahmed.
OCTOBER 26, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Expected to land on IR Brown (quadriceps) is expected to be placed on injured reserve, Travis Wingfield of the Dolphins' official site reports.
Impact Brown sustained a quadriceps injury in the first quarter of Sunday's loss to the Falcons, and he'll likely be forced to miss at least three games. The 28-year-old had recorded just eight carries across the last three weeks, but Salvon Ahmed could see a slightly increased role behind Myles Gaskin while Brown is sidelined.

Won't return Sunday Brown (quadriceps) has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's game against the Falcons.
Impact Brown was limited by a rib injury earlier in the week and went down with the quad issue early in Sunday's contest. He received the start and had three carries for 10 yards and one reception for minus-one yard before going down with the injury. Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed will continue to handle the backfield work for Miami.
OCTOBER 24, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Hurts quad Sunday Brown injured his quadriceps during the first quarter of Sunday's game against the Falcons, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
Impact After Brown was limited by a rib injury during Week 7 prep, he was cleared for action and even started Sunday, earning the first RB touches for the Dolphins. Prior to his departure, he had three carries for 10 yards and caught his only target for minus-1 yard. In Brown's absence, Miami is down to Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed out of the backfield.
OCTOBER 24, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Cleared for action in Week 7 Brown (ribs) doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Falcons, David Furones of the Sun Sentinel reports.
Impact Brown's clearance despite a trio of limited practices is a silver lining in a lengthy Dolphins injury report that lists wide receivers DeVante Parker (shoulder/hamstring) and Preston Williams (groin) among seven questionable players. Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed remain ahead of Brown on the Dolphins' running back depth chart, but their pecking order seems to be fluid on a week-to-week basis, so Brown could carve out a sizable role if he gets hot; he has notched at least five touches in five of his first six games with Miami.

Reps capped Wednesday Brown was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice due to a rib injury, Daniel Oyefusi of the Miami Herald reports.
Impact So long as Brown can maintain limited activity throughout the week or upgrade to full participation by Friday, he should be in good shape to play Sunday against the Falcons. Since logging a season-high 65 percent of the Dolphins' offensive snaps Week 4 against the Colts, Brown has seen his playing time drop to 10 and 37 percent over the past two weeks.

Jags turn to quick-hitter called 'slider' to end epic slide

The Jacksonville Jaguars call it “slider."

Sees five carries Brown recorded five carries for 24 yards in Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Jaguars. He added one reception for seven yards.
Impact The Dolphins backfield devolved into a nearly even three-way split between Brown, Salvon Ahmed and Myles Gaskin. Brown led the way in yardage, thanks in large part to a 16-yard gain early in the second quarter. It's difficult to trust any member of the rushing attack in Miami at this point, and Brown has yet to surpass 35 rushing yards in any game this season.

Jags end 20-game skid with 53-yard FG to beat Dolphins 23-20

The Jacksonville Jaguars have ended their 20-game losing streak
OCTOBER 17, 2021 • Associated Press
Not involved Week 5 Brown did not log a single carry during Sunday's loss to the Buccaneers.
Impact Brown was invisible on offense while Myles Gaskin handled five carries and 10 targets (not to mention two touchdowns), and Salvon Ahmed operated in the No. 2 role out of the backfield. The Dolphins haven't distributed the running back workload in a predictable way on a weekly basis, and this isn't an offense that produces especially valuable backfield touches, so it may be best to leave Brown off the fantasy radar except in deep leagues.
OCTOBER 12, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Little doing versus Colts Brown carried the ball eight times for 23 yards and secured his only target for four yards during Sunday's 27-17 loss to the Colts.
Impact Brown's eight carries were actually a season-high mark, and Myles Gaskin rushed just twice in the contest, but none of Miami's backfield options were able to find success on the ground. The Dolphins may be forced to abandon the run again in Week 5 if Tom Brady and the Buccaneers get out to an early lead.
