Cleared for practice Collins (Achilles) has been cleared for practice, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.
Impact The three-time Pro bowler played seven games for Washington last season, racking up 41 tackles, two sacks and one interception before going down with an Achilles injury. Collins will be in a tight position battle with Kamren Curl to earn the starting spot at strong safety. Given the devastating nature of Collins' injury and the emergence of Curl last season, It wouldn't be surprising to see Washington use both safeties in a rotational capacity.

Avoids PUP list Collins (Achilles) was not placed on any injury list as Washington begins training camp, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
Impact Collins did not participate in team minicamp in June as he was still recovering from an Achilles tear that ended his 2020 season in Week 9. However, the fact that he did not start camp on any sort of injury list is a reassuring sign that he's closer to being fully recovered.

Absent from minicamp Collins (Achilles) didn't practice at June minicamp, JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington reports.
Impact Collins suffered a torn Achilles last October and still hasn't returned to practice. That doesn't necessarily mean he's behind schedule, but it'll be time to worry if the safety isn't back on the field within the first week or two of training camp. Collins has four seasons remaining on a six-year, $84 million contract, but the guarantees dry up after his $12.5 million base salary this season. He has 158 tackles in 22 games for Washington, so he should still be an IDP asset once he's healthy and ready for a three-down role.

Already running again Collins (Achilles) posted a video Wednesday featuring himself running, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
Impact Collins is roughly six months removed from surgery to repair a torn left Achilles' tendon, and his recovery appears to be progressing on track. The 27-year-old is heading into the third season of a six-year, $84 million contract with Washington, and he'll settle back into a starting role at safety once he's back to full health. Prior to going down with the injury last October, Collins was in line for a third straight campaign with 100-plus stops.
