Just two receptions Sunday Granson had two receptions for 14 yards on two targets in Sunday's loss at Jacksonville.

Impact While Granson didn't have a productive day and the offense struggled (scored no points), he again was the top tight end target in the passing game. He played the same number of snaps as Mo Alie-Cox (27) and went out on more routes (20 to 17), though Cox did have three targets.

Two more catches Saturday Granson caught two of three targets for 18 yards in Saturday's 27-26 preseason loss to the Lions.

Impact Granson was involved from the onset, catching the first pass thrown by Nick Foles while the Colts rested starters such as Matt Ryan and Mo Alie-Cox. While Alie-Cox's superior blocking ability and experience have him poised to lead Colts tight ends in playing time, Granson's expected to take on a more significant role in his second NFL season after seeing minimal involvement in 2021 as a rookie fourth-round pick out of SMU.

Two receptions in preseaon debut Granson had two receptions for 29 yards on two targets in Saturday's preseason loss to Buffalo.

Impact Granson showed off his speed when he outran a defender on a 23-yard slant route. He got his work with the second-team offense, however. He's the second passing option at tight end behind Mo Alie-Cox and may not get many targets, but that could change if oft-inured Parris Campbell or another receiver gets hurt.

Increased competition at TE Granson faces increased competition for the No. 2 tight end role with the Colts drafting two tight ends in the 2022 NFL Draft, The Athletic reports. The Colts selected Jelani Woods...

Impact Granson entered the offseason as a potential starting tight end after the retirement of Jack Doyle, but the Colts re-signed Mo Alie-Cox in free agency and then drafted two tight ends. It's unlikely Woods or Ogletree will compete for a significant role in the passing game, but Granson will need to earn the No. 2 tight end role in the offense this summer.

MAY 2, 2022 • ROTOWIRE

Should see increased opportunities With Jack Doyle having retired, Granson is in a position to see an expanded role in the Colts' passing game this coming season, JJ Stankevitz of the team's official site reports.

Impact In his first NFL season, the 2021 fourth-rounder was limited to 11 catches (on 15 targets) for 106 yards in 17 games, but GM Chris Ballard believes that Granson has "big upside." While the SMU product still has sturdy blocker Mo Alie-Cox to contend with for targets and the team may add further tight end depth in advance of Week 1, Granson potentially could emerge as a fantasy sleeper at his position should the 6-foot-2, 242-pounder develop a productive rapport with Matt Ryan, the Colts' new signal-caller.

MARCH 31, 2022 • ROTOWIRE

Solid rookie season Granson caught 11 of his 15 targets for 106 yards across 17 appearances during the 2021 campaign.

Impact Granson didn't see a target through the first three weeks of the season, but his involvement in the passing game picked up from Weeks 4-13. During that stretch, he caught 10 passes for 100 yards and recorded at least one target in nine of 10 games, including multiple targets five times. Jack Doyle is expected to be back next year, but Mo Alie-Cox's contract is up this offseason, so the rookie could see increased involvement during Year 2.

Catches one of two targets Granson caught one of his two targets for six yards during Sunday's 31-0 win over the Texans.

Impact Granson hasn't been targeted more than twice in any of his 13 appearances this season, but he's recorded at least one catch in each of the last six games. Over that span, he's recorded seven receptions for 78 yards. Despite the consistent production, Granson likely remains a risky fantasy option as long as Jack Doyle and Mo Alie-Cox are healthy.

DECEMBER 7, 2021 • ROTOWIRE

Totals 22 yards in loss Granson hauled in both of his targets for 22 yards in Sunday's 38-31 loss to the Buccaneers.

Impact Granson hasn't been targeted more than twice in any of his first 12 appearances of the season, but he's recorded at least one catch in each of the last five games. During that time, the 23-year-old has secured six of seven targets for 72 yards.

NOVEMBER 29, 2021 • ROTOWIRE

Slightly involved versus Jaguars Granson secured his only target for 15 yards during Sunday's 23-17 win over Jacksonville.

Impact Granson has played a rotational role on offense all season, and he's now logged four straight games with a single target in each. The rookie fourth-round pick's development is coming along nicely, but he's not currently much of a candidate for fantasy relevance behind both Jack Doyle and Mo Alie-Cox.

NOVEMBER 5, 2021 • COLTS.COM

Two receptions Monday Granson had two receptions for 19 yards in Monday's loss at Baltimore.

Impact Granson played just eight snaps on offense, but he had two targets for a second consecutive week after none the first three games. While that won't make him relevant in most fantasy leagues, it shows the rookie's role in the offense could continue to grow.

OCTOBER 12, 2021 • ROTOWIRE

Gets first NFL reception Granson had one reception for three yards on two targets in Sunday's win at Miami. It was his first career NFL reception.

Impact Granson saw his first sizeable playing time as Jack Doyle was likely limited by a sore back. Granson played on 30 of the offense's 71 snaps and went out on 18 routes. Doyle played just 21 snaps. While Granson didn't produce viable fantasy stats, watch his progression as there were some reports during the preseason that he could be featured in the passing game. While that hasn't materialized yet, the rookie could see a larger role later in the season.

OCTOBER 4, 2021 • ROTOWIRE

Minimal role on offense Granson did not have a target and played just seven snaps on offense in Sunday's loss to Seattle.

Impact Despite some reports from the preseason that he could be featured in the passing game, Granson went out for a pass on just two plays. He's a distant third option at tight end behind Mo Alie-Cox and Jack Doyle. The fourth-round 2021 draft pick is a work in progress who could move into a larger role later this season.

SEPTEMBER 13, 2021 • ROTOWIRE

Modest production Friday Granson caught three of four targets for 23 yards in Friday's preseason win over the Lions.

Impact The 23-year-old tied for second on the Colts in targets on the night, but his longest grab went for only 10 yards as he worked with Jacob Eason and the first-team offense. There's been speculation Granson could have a bigger role than expected in the passing game even if he's only third on the depth chart at tight end, as the team has a track record of finding targets for multiple players at the position; however, the 2021 fourth-round pick is still a long shot to have much fantasy value.

AUGUST 28, 2021 • ROTOWIRE

Could be featured in passing game Granson will be featured in the Colts passing game if training camp is any indication, Stephen Holder of The Athletic reports.

Impact While this is an encouraging report, Granson hasn't been showcased in the preseason. He has two receptions on seven targets through two exhibitions while playing 42 snaps, according to Pro Football Focus. He's also behind both Jack Doyle and Mo Alie-Cox on the depth chart. However, this report implies that Granson could be utilized in the Colts' passing game similar to how Trey Burton was deployed in 2020 when the Colts often utilized three tight ends, and he could therefore be a sleeper should Doyle or Alie-Cox miss time due to injury.

Impact The Colts selected Granson in the fourth round of the draft this spring. The rookie looks like he'll have a chance to carve out a role in the offense right away, but he's behind both Jack Doyle and Mo Alie-Cox on the depth chart. Still, the Colts utilized three tight ends in the passing game last season, so room exists for Granson to have a role on offense.
