Should get bigger role sans Conner Head coach Kliff Kingsbury said Ingram and Corey Clement will be in store for increased roles in Sunday's game against the 49ers with top back James Conner (shin/knee) ruled out fo...
Impact While Conner was sidelined for the entire fourth quarter of last week's win over the Falcons, Clement played 94 percent of the Cardinals' offensive snaps and carried five times for 25 yards in the final 15 minutes. Meanwhile, Ingram didn't garner any snaps on offense at any point during the contest, which suggests Clement may be the better bet of the two backs to pick up the Week 18 start and absorb most of Conner's snaps and touches. That being said, the Cardinals have more recent draft capital invested in Ingram, a sixth-round rookie, while the 28-year-old Clement has bounced around the league the past few seasons and profiles as more of a special-teams player at this stage of his career. With that in mind, it wouldn't be a complete surprise if Ingram carved out a larger role Sunday than expected, despite how he and Clement were deployed a week ago.

Carries once in loss Ingram rushed once for one yard in Monday's 27-13 loss to the Patriots.
Impact Ingram played just nine offensive snaps in the contest, while starting running back James Conner was on the field for 71 of the Cardinals 75 offensive snaps. The rookie's lack of involvement while Conner operates as a true bell cow limits any potential he has to produce for fantasy purposes. Barring injuries, Ingram should be viewed as nothing more than a handcuff to Conner going forward. The Cardinals visit the Broncos in Week 15.
DECEMBER 14, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Gets five rushes Monday Ingram notched five carries for 19 yards during Monday's 38-10 loss to the 49ers.
Impact The Cardinals moved on from Eno Benjamin last week, effectively elevating Ingram to James Conner's direct backup. But with Conner able to handle a healthy majority of the snaps (55 of 71) and touches (16) Monday, Ingram was left with only a handful of opportunities on 18 offensive plays. While the carry count was the second-most of his young career, the 2022 sixth-round pick still is averaging just 2.5 YPC on his 19 rushes to date. Ingram thus doesn't hold much sway without Conner missing time.
NOVEMBER 22, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Becomes No. 2 running back Ingram is the only running back behind James Conner on the Cardinals' active roster after the team waived Eno Benjamin on Monday, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.
Impact Conner appeared to be operating on all cylinders Sunday at the Rams, earning 96 percent of the snaps and turning a season-high 24 touches into 86 yards from scrimmage and two TDs. Meanwhile, Ingram, a rookie sixth-rounder, was at seven percent and had one carry for five yards, and Benjamin rang in at one offensive play and muffed his only punt return. Conner will continue to handle the vast majority of reps out of Arizona's backfield moving forward. However, Ingram has a clear path to any reps that linger, especially with Darrel Williams (hip) and Jonathan Ward (hamstring) on IR, and Corey Clement and Ty'Son Williams the current candidates to be elevated from the team's practice squad.

Tallies one carry in Week 9 Ingram had a two-yard carry during Sunday's 31-21 defeat to the Seahawks.
Impact With James Conner sidelined Weeks 6 to 8 due to a rib injury, Ingram got a bit of run on offense, notching 12 carries for 21 yards and a touchdown and hauling in both targets for 23 yards. But Conner returned to the lineup Week 9 and paced the Cardinals backfield with a 71 percent snap share and 12 touches, while Eno Benjamin moved back to a reserve role (27 percent, five touches). That left just one offensive play for Ingram, which leaves the rookie sixth-round pick on the outside looking in for reps as long as Conner is available.
NOVEMBER 8, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Notches 11 touches Thursday Ingram tallied nine carries for 14 yards and one touchdown and hauled in both targets for 23 yards during Thursday's 42-34 win against the Saints.
Impact A rookie sixth-rounder, Ingram earned his first touches as a pro in the Cardinals' last two games with James Conner (ribs) and Darrel Williams (knee) sidelined and Jonathan Ward (hamstring) on IR. While his nine-snap debut Week 5 in Seattle resulted in just three carries for seven yards, Ingram bumped that up to 20 (of 66) offensive plays working behind Eno Benjamin on Thursday. If Conner and/or Williams are able to return for the team's next game Sunday, Oct. 30 at Minnesota, Ingram again may earn a healthy scratch, like he did for the first four contests of the campaign.

Making pro debut Sunday Ingram is listed as active Sunday at Seattle, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Impact With James Conner (ribs) and Darrel Williams (knee) sidelined, Ingram, a 2022 sixth-round pick, will be suiting up for the first time in his career. Eno Benjamin is expected to be Arizona's lead runner Week 6, but Ingram should get his share of touches as well considering coach Kliff Kingsbury's penchant for getting multiple running backs involved on a weekly basis. Ingram also has to contend with the elevated Corey Clement behind Benjamin, so it's unclear how much work the rookie can expect in his pro debut.

Set to debut Week 6 Ingram is expected to make his NFL debut in Sunday's game in Seattle with James Conner (ribs) and Darrel Williams (knee) listed as out for the Week 6 contest, Aaron Wilson of ProFo...
Impact Since he hasn't been a part of the Cardinals' special-teams units this season, Ingram, a sixth-round rookie out of USC, was inactive for each of the team's first five games while Arizona had all of its key running backs available. The losses of Conner and Williams for at least one week will pave the way for Ingram to dress, but the 22-year-old may only play a handful of snaps behind Eno Benjamin, who handled a workhorse role in the Week 5 loss to the Eagles following Conner's departure in the second quarter. The Cardinals will also elevate Corey Clement from the practice squad to provide another depth option behind Benjamin.

Debut delayed again Ingram (coach's decision) is listed as inactive Sunday against the Eagles, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Impact With the rest of Arizona's backfield healthy and available, Ingram's pro debut again will have to wait until Week 6, at the earliest. The rookie sixth-round pick is taking a seat while James Conner serves as the team's lead runner, Eno Benjamin and Darrel Williams are around for any touches that don't go to Conner, and Jonathan Ward handles his customary special-teams role.
OCTOBER 9, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Not playing Sunday Ingram (coach's decision) is listed as inactive Sunday at Carolina.
Impact Yet again, Ingram will don street clothes as he awaits his pro debut. The rookie sixth-round pick may be a healthy scratch without an injury to multiple backfield mates, but until or if that comes to pass, James Conner will continue to be supported by Eno Benjamin, Darrel Williams and Jonathan Ward on game day.
OCTOBER 2, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
No debut in Week 3 Ingram (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Rams, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Impact Ingram seemingly had a chance to dress for the first time in his career with James Conner (ankle) questionable for Week 3, but the latter is available Sunday, and the former's pro debut will have to wait at least another week. The rookie sixth-round pick thus will be in street clothes Sunday while Conner, Darrel Williams, Eno Benjamin and Jonathan Ward serve as Arizona's available running backs.
SEPTEMBER 25, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Inactive again Sunday Ingram (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game in Las Vegas, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Impact Like he was in the opener, Ingram is a healthy scratch Week 2. With the rookie sixth-round pick in street clothes, Arizona again will rely on James Conner as the team's top runner, while Eno Benjamin handles primary backup duties and Darrel Williams and Jonathan Ward likely stick to special-teams roles.
SEPTEMBER 18, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Six combined touches Ingram rushed four times for nine yards and caught two of three targets for 20 yards in Sunday's preseason loss to the Ravens.
Impact Ingram wasn't able to replicate last week's trip to the end zone, but he did put his soft hands to work with two more catches to add to his preseason total. The sixth-round pick won't have much fantasy value so long as James Connor remains healthy, so a spot on the Cardinals' practice squad seems to be a more realistic goal for Ingram.

Can James Conner be Marshawn Lynch for Cardinals’ offense?
Finds end zone in preseason opener Ingram carried the ball seven times for 27 yards and a touchdown and caught both his targets for 10 yards in Friday's preseason game against the Bengals.
Impact The 2022 sixth-round pick out of USC was the third back into the game for Arizona behind an ineffective Eno Benjamin and special-teams ace Jonathan Ward, but Ingram was able to make an impact, punching in a one-yard TD late in the third quarter. His 3.9 yards per carry also led the trio of Cardinals' depth RBs as veterans James Conner and Darrel Williams got the night off. Benjamin has been drawing praise early in training camp, but if Ingram keeps out-performing him in actual game action, he could steal away the No. 3 spot on the depth chart.
AUGUST 13, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Falls to Arizona The Cardinals selected Ingram in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 201st overall.
Impact Ingram appeared to be on the fast track to stardom after strong freshman and sophomore seasons at Texas, but Bijan Robinson -- an elite prospect in his own right -- ended up boxing out Ingram in 2020. As a transfer at USC, Ingram was clearly the team's best running back in 2021 with 156 carries for 911 yards (5.8 YPC) and five touchdowns while adding 22 catches (25 targets) for 156 yards. While Ingram has never handled a workhorse role in college, he may have that capability, as he measured in at 6-foot, 221 pounds at the combine and ran a 4.53 40-yard dash. He has a good chance to settle in as the No. 2 running back behind James Conner right away, with Eno Benjamin representing his stiffest competition at the moment.
