Set for starting role
Blackmon had two tackles and two pass defensed in Sunday's win over Minnesota. He took over at starting free safety after Malik Hooker of 107.5 The Fan Indianapolis was hurt and sh...
Impact
Blackmon played 34 of 54 snaps on defense. He did give up two of three passes targeted at him for a 109.7 NFL passer rating allowed, according to Pro Football Focus, but graded well in tackling. Blackmon may not be the play maker that Hooker was in coverage, but he could be a solid source of tackles as a starter in the Indy secondary.

Ready to rock
The Colts activated Blackmon (knee) from the Active/Non-Football Injury list Monday, Stephen Holder of The Athletic reports.
Impact
Blackmon finally received full medical clearance after he suffered a torn ACL in his final collegiate game at Utah in December. Now healthy, it's unclear whether he'll be thrust into the lineup for Week 1 of the season. He's expected to assume a depth role behind starter Malik Hooker, so it's likely that the team will ease Blackmon into game action.

Placed on non-football injury list
Blackmon, who suffered an ACL tear in December, was placed on the Active/Non-Football Injury list, Mike Chappell of Fox 59 News Indianapolis reports.
Impact
Blackmon was hoping to receive medical clearance to begin practicing by July, so it's not clear if this is a setback. More likely, he'll begin training camp on the roster exemption and then will be activated when cleared to practice. He isn't expected to be able to play in a game until October at the earliest.
