INJURIES

Not practicing Wednesday Metchie (shoulder) remained sidelined at practice Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Impact Metchie remains a non-participant after being held out of Tuesday's walk-through practice. He'll have one more opportunity to practice prior to the release of game designations Thursday for Saturday's matinee against the Chiefs. Robert Woods would be the top candidate to step into three-receiver sets alongside Nico Collins and Tank Dell if Metchie's unavailable.

Managing shoulder injury Metchie was listed as a non-participant for Tuesday's walk-through practice due to a shoulder injury.
Impact During this past Sunday's 20-12 win over the Dolphins, Metchie finished fourth in snaps (21) among Texans receivers, finishing the day with two catches for 17 yards on four targets. Metchie's 42 percent snap share was his lowest since Week 8, and the shoulder injury may in part explain why he saw a smaller role than usual. He'll now have two more opportunities to potentially log some practice activity before the Texans decide whether he'll carry a designation into Saturday's game in Kansas City.

Four targets in win Metchie caught two of four targets for 17 yards in Sunday's 20-12 win over the Dolphins in Week 15.
Impact One of Metchie's four targets was an incompletion in the red zone. He's been the most productive of the bunch behind Nico Collins and Tank Dell, but the overall passing game in 2024 is not what it was in quarterback C.J. Stroud's rookie 2023 season. Metchie has 17 receptions (25 targets) for 182 yards over 11 games played.
DECEMBER 16, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Two grabs in win Metchie caught both of his targets for 16 yards in Sunday's 23-20 win over Jacksonville in Week 13.
Impact Metchie operated as the third wideout but had little impact. Xavier Hutchinson (shoulder) was inactive, and his potential snaps were distributed among Metchie (31), Robert Woods (21) and Jared Wayne (16). The passing game played out as it has the last few weeks, with Nico Collins (11 targets), Dalton Schultz (seven) and Tank Dell (four) being the main components. Metchie had a recent bump in activity, but that appears to have dimmed since Collins returned from a stint on the IR due to a hamstring injury.
DECEMBER 2, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Likely third wideout Week 13 Metchie is expected to be the third wideout Sunday against the Jaguars, as Xavier Hutchinson (shoulder) is questionable for Week 13.
Impact Metchie and Hutchinson each experienced upticks in playing time when injuries hit the wideout room. Since Nico Collins returned two weeks ago, Metchie has more targets (six) and been on the field more (79 snaps) than Hutchinson (one target, 36 snaps). Metchie averaged a 57-percent share of the offensive snaps with 12 receptions (18 targets) for 142 yards and a touchdown over the last five weeks. Collins and Tank Dell are expected to gobble up most of the targets on Thanksgiving weekend, while Metchie gets the leftovers.
NOVEMBER 30, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
One touch in loss Metchie caught one of three targets for six yards in Sunday's 32-27 loss to Tennessee in Week 12.
Impact Metchie's activity picked up dramatically since injuries hit the wide receiver room, garnering 18 targets over the last five weeks. He's had varying degrees of success, but now that Nico Collins is back, he's looking for whatever scraps aren't allotted to Collins, Tank Dell and, to a degree, the tight ends.
NOVEMBER 25, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Three targets in win Metchie caught all three targets for 33 yards in Monday's 34-10 win over Dallas in Week 11.
Impact Nico Collins finally returned from a hamstring injury, giving quarterback C.J. Stroud another target option. The QB's attention to Metchie took a hit, but the receiver appears to have emerged as the third wide receiver behind Collins and Tank Dell. Metchie (39 snaps) was on the field more than Xavier Hutchinson (28) or Robert Woods (20) and has 11 receptions on 15 targets for 136 yards and one touchdown the last four weeks. The playing time could take a hit in the coming weeks as the Texans feel more comfortable about giving Collins more than the 30 snaps he had Monday.
NOVEMBER 19, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Breaks out against Lions Metchie recorded five receptions on six targets for 74 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 26-23 loss to the Lions.
Impact Metchie enjoyed the most productive game of his career and paced the Texans with 74 yards. He was particularly impressive on a possession just before halftime, initially hauling in a deep 25-yard pass before capping the drive with a 15-yard touchdown reception -- the first of his career. While Nico Collins (hamstring) is likely to be back in Week 11 against the Cowboys, Metchie could have the chance to earn a larger role across the second half of the season due to the underwhelming showings from Tank Dell.
NOVEMBER 11, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Two targets in loss Metchie failed to catch either of his two targets in Thursday's 21-13 loss to the Jets in Week 9.
Impact With the team's top wideouts sidelined, Metchie was in line to take on a greater role, but it didn't work out that way. Houston quarterback C.J. Stroud spent much of the night running away from or getting hit by Jets defenders, which made a mess of the passing attack. Metchie, who played a season-high 50 snaps, and fellow wideout Xavier Hutchinson (59 snaps, three targets, no catches) were non-factors in the loss.
NOVEMBER 1, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Could see increased workload Metchie is one of four healthy wide receivers entering Thursday's game against the Jets, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Impact The Texans received the expected bad news Tuesday that Stefon Diggs suffered a season-ending torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. That, coupled with Nico Collins (hamstring) on injured reserve for at least one more week, opens the door to Metchie, who had received a boost in his workload the last three weeks when it was only Collins sidelined. Metchie had a season-high four targets last Sunday when Diggs sustained his injury. In fact, it was Metchie that replaced Diggs and caught two passes on the same drive that resulted in a Houston score that made it a two-score game in the fourth quarter. He'll likely serve as the fourth wideout after Tank Dell, Robert Woods and Xavier Hutchinson in Week 9.
OCTOBER 30, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Blips on radar Metchie caught three of four targets for 29 yards in Sunday's 23-20 win over the Colts in Week 8.
Impact Metchie had his most productive game of the season on a day when Stefon Diggs sustained a non-contact knee injury that may be season-ending. Two of Metchie's targets came on the same drive after Diggs was removed from the game. If the injury turns out to be significant, that means Houston will be down its top two wideouts heading into Thursday's matchup against the Jets. That means Tank Dell would occupy the top of the depth chart, while Metchie, Xavier Hutchinson and Robert Woods take one greater roles.

Increased usage Sunday Metchie caught three of four targets for 29 yards in Sunday's 23-20 win over the Colts.
Impact Metchie had his most productive game of the season on a day when Stefon Diggs sustained a non-contact knee injury that may be season-ending. Two of Metchie's targets came on the same drive after Diggs was removed from the game. If the injury turns out to be significant and Diggs joins Nico Collins (hamstring) on the sidelines, Tank Dell would occupy the top of the depth chart, while Metchie, Xavier Hutchinson and Robert Woods take on greater roles as well.
OCTOBER 28, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Does little with extra snaps Metchie didn't draw a target while playing 25 of the Texans' 66 snaps on offense in Sunday's 41-21 win over the Patriots.
Impact Though he was active for the third straight game and saw his highest snap share of the season with Nico Collins (hamstring) on injured reserve and with Robert Woods (foot) inactive for the contest, Metchie didn't see any involvement in the passing attack. If Woods is cleared to play Week 7 against the Packers, Metchie would likely drop to fifth in the pecking order at receiver behind Stefon Diggs, Tank Dell, Xavier Hutchinson and Woods.
OCTOBER 16, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Active for first time Metchie caught his lone target for seven yards in Sunday's 24-20 win over Jacksonville in Week 4.
Impact Metchie was active for the first time in four games, taking the roster spot ceded by Tank Dell's inactivity due to a chest injury. Metchie was on the field for nine snaps. Xavier Hutchinson (13 snaps) has held down the fifth wideout spot when all hands are healthy.
SEPTEMBER 30, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Inactive in Week 2 Metchie (coach's decision) was inactive for Week 2 against the Bears.
Impact Metchie has not suited up for either of the first two games, as it appears the coaching staff prefers Xavier Hutchinson as the fifth wideout and allots a spot to Steven Sims as a returner.

Inactive in Week 2 Metchie (coach's decision) was inactive for Week 2 against the Bears.

SEPTEMBER 16, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Inactive in Week 1 Metchie (coach's decision) is inactive Week 1 against the Colts.
Impact Matchie was targeted in each of Houston's preseason contests, but when push came to shove, he was simply too far down on the depth chart in a loaded wide receiver room. With Sunday's inactive designation, it appears even the likes of Xavier Hutchinson and Steven Sims have surpassed Metchie, as both will be active for the season opener.

Records two catches Saturday Metchie caught two of three targets for 21 yards in Saturday's preseason finale against the Rams.
Impact Metchie is looking to earn one of the backup spots behind the starting trio of Stefon Diggs, Nico Collins and Tank Dell this upcoming season. The 24-year-old was coming off of a strong showing in the Texans' second preseason tilt when he had six receptions for 68 yards and a score. Metchie figures to either make the squad or land on the team's practice squad following a strong exhibition campaign.

Finds paydirt Metchie caught six of seven targets for 68 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's preseason game against the Giants.
Impact Metchie had a couple of meh showings in the Hall of Fame Game and first preseason tilt, disappointing head coach DeMeco Ryans, but he responded Saturday. Metchie led the team in targets, receptions and yards as he positioned himself behind the team's top four wideouts. He's competing against Xavier Hutchinson (two of four targets, 20 yards) and Ben Skowronek (leg) at the back end of the wide receiver depth chart.

One drop, one catch Friday Metchie caught one of two targets for four yards in Friday's 20-12 preseason win over the Steelers.
Impact Metchie dropped the first pass thrown to him and didn't appear to respond in the way head coach DeMeco Ryans wanted to see following a quiet preseason opener last week in the Hall of Fame Game. The good news for Metchie is that neither of his main competitors -- Xavier Hutchinson nor Ben Skowronek -- shined as a receiver Friday night.
