Likely starting Week 1 Arcega-Whiteside likely will be the starting X receiver for Week 1 at Washington, NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
Impact The 2019 second-round pick reportedly has shown significant progress in his second NFL training camp, building up a solid case for a role in the Philadelphia offense. Said role might've entailed rotating in as a backup, but it now appears more likely he'll start, with Jalen Reagor (shoulder) looking doubtful for the opener. While he probably won't be a target hog, the 6-foot-2 Arcega-Whitesides does offer a much different skill set than Z receiver DeSean Jackson and slot man Greg Ward, potentially lending to some volume in the red zone. The report does note that rookie fifth-round pick John Hightower also has been impressive in training camp, so it's possible the Eagles use a rotation of sorts.

Building chemistry with Wentz Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz has been throwing to Arcega-Whiteside on a regular basis during training camp, Mike Kaye of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Impact Arcega-Whiteside apparently had another busy practice Thursday, after making a strong impression in the red zone the day prior. Eagles beat reporters seem to be in agreement that the second-year pro has taken a step forward since his brutal rookie season, but it sounds like Jalen Reagor, DeSean Jackson and some of the wideouts further down the depth chart also have been playing well. Meanwhile, Alshon Jeffery (foot) figures to miss at least the first few games of the season, potentially leaving JJAW as the only big-bodied wideout on the team. That won't necessarily equate to a top-three role, but it's at least looking like a possibility.

Confident heading into season Arcega-Whiteside claims he is "night and day different" from the player he was in 2019, Reuben Frank of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
Impact Arcega-Whiteside is looking to make up for lost time after a bust of a rookie season marred by injury and difficulty adapting to the speed of the pro game. However, he spent the offseason utilizing an extensive training regime and lost eight pounds of fat. The 23-year-old has been alternating reps at the 'X' position with 2020 first-rounder Jalen Reagor thus far in camp but will likely slot behind the rookie on the depth chart to begin the season.

Back to work Wednesday Arcega-Whiteside (lower body) was a full participant for Wednesday's practice, Daniel Gallen of Penn Live reports.
Impact Arcega-Whiteside had been classified as day-to-day with the lower-body issue, but rejoined the team to get valuable practice reps. The Stanford product appears locked into a battle for playing time with Greg Ward and recent draft pick Jalen Reagor heading into the season. Arcega-Whiteside disappointed in his rookie campaign, catching 10 passes for 169 yards and a touchdown across 16 games.

Misses practice with injury Arcega-Whiteside is day to day with a lower-body injury, Martin Frank of The Delaware News Journal reports.
Impact Eliot Shorr-Parks of Sports Radio 94 WIP Philadelphia reports that DeSean Jackson, Jalen Reagor and Greg Ward are lining up with the first-team offense at Monday's practice. Meanwhile, Arcega-Whiteside is hoping to compete for the X receiver spot that's typically been occupied by Alshon Jeffery, who remains on the PUP list as he works his way back from major foot surgery. Following his poor rookie season, JJAW can't afford to miss much practice time if he wants a real shot at a Week 1 starting job.
AUGUST 17, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Focusing on X role Arcega-Whiteside should be able to focus on the "X" receiver spot this year, Jimmy Kempski of PhillyVoice.com reports.
Impact The 2019 second-round pick was a huge disappointment as a rookie, catching only 10 passes on 486 offensive snaps. Arcega-Whiteside said nagging injuries were part of the problem, and he also mentioned the difficulty of moving around to different positions because of the more serious injuries his teammates suffered. He now should be able to focus on the X spot, which was occupied by Alshon Jeffery (foot) for the better part of the past three seasons. Jeffery is coming back from surgery and may not be ready for the season opener, but that doesn't mean Arcega-Whiteside will have anything given to him, as the Eagles also have rookie first-round pick Jalen Reagor and veteran speedster Marquise Goodwin as options to handle wideout snaps opposite DeSean Jackson. That said, coach Doug Pederson claims Reagor will start off learning the "Z" spot behind Jackson.
