Impact The safety had been participating in a limited capacity due to a minor back issue. Now that he has returned, he should be considered fully healthy, and ready to resume his usual role as a starting safety. Bates recorded 98 tackles (57 solo) and six pass breakups, including three interceptions, and a forced a fumble for Atlanta a year ago.

Progressing through rehab Bates (back) continued to work with the rehab team Monday, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports.

Impact Bates suffered a minor back issue at some point in training camp and has been practicing in a limited capacity. The safety has been gradually working his way up to full participation and should be back soon. As Bates works his way back, other defensive backs such as Jammie Robinson have seen more snaps with the first-team defense.
