Impact Morgan was brought in Dec. 20 as an emergency option for the Cardinals. With Kyler Murray (knee) done for the year and Colt McCoy nursing a concussion, he was third in line behind David Blough and Trace McSorley at quarterback. However, as the Cardinals enter the final week of their season, and with two healthy quarterbacks on the active roster, the team has decided to cut Morgan loose.

Impact Arizona now accounts for fifth practice squad for which Morgan has suited up since he was drafted by the Jets in 2020. Johnson seems like the favorite to win the spot in that scenario considering Morgan -- whom the Jets selected in the fourth round of the 2020 draft -- still looks overwhelmed at the NFL level. But Morgan likely will get a chance to change that perception in the preseason finale against the Eagles.
