Offensive inefficiency dooms Saints as comeback falls short against Jaguars

Calvin Ridley - Limited to one catch in win Ridley rushed once for no gain and secured one of four targets for five yards in the Jaguars' 31-24 win over the Saints on Thursday night.

Impact Ridley's catch and yardage totals were season lows in an utterly forgettable night for the veteran speedster. Ridley opened the season with a stellar 8-101-1 line against the Colts -- his first game action since Oct. 2021 -- but outside of a seven-reception, 122-yard tally in Week 5 against the Bills in London, he's been quiet since, even with fellow receiver Zay Jones (knee) missing multiple games. Ridley inconsistent production but high ceiling makes him a relatively frustrating asset for fantasy managers heading into a Week 8 road matchup against the Steelers.

Evan Engram - Five receptions in Week 7 win Engram secured five of seven targets for 45 yards in the Jaguars' 31-24 win over the Saints on Thursday night.

Impact Engram finished second in receptions and receiving yards for the Jaguars on the night with his sixth tally of at least five catches on the campaign. While the veteran tight end has been capped at 67 receiving yards this season as far as a single-game high, his role in the team's offense (51 targets in seven games) remains steady. Next up for Engram is a Week 8 road matchup against the Steelers on Sunday, Oct. 29.

Christian Kirk - Records game-winning TD Thursday Kirk secured all six targets for 90 yards and a touchdown and lost a fumble in the Jaguars' 31-24 win over the Saints on Thursday night.

Impact Kirk led the Jaguars in receptions and receiving yards on the night, with his 44-yard catch and run touchdown just before the three-minute mark of the fourth quarter ultimately proving to be the difference in the game. The reception was Kirk's second of over 40 yards this season and helped atone for a first-quarter lost fumble that didn't lead to any points for New Orleans. Kirk's yardage total was his highest since Week 2, and he'll next take on the inconsistent Steelers secondary during a Week 8 road matchup a week from Sunday.

Travis Etienne Jr. - Two more touchdowns in win Etienne rushed 14 times for 53 yards and two touchdowns and secured three of five targets for 24 yards in the Jaguars' 31-24 win over the Saints on Thursday night.

Impact Etienne found the end zone from two and 17 yards out in the first and second quarters, respectively, giving him his third consecutive multi-touchdown game. The third-year back did often find running room at a premium against a tough Saints defensive front seven, as he gained just 36 yards on the 13 other carries outside of his second scoring scamper. Etienne has been at 55 rushing yards or less in three of his last four games, but his recent touchdown output has his fantasy stock surging heading into a Week 8 road matchup against the Steelers on Sunday, Oct. 29.

Lawrence hit Christian Kirk with a go-ahead 44-yard touchdown pass with just over three minutes remaining on a slant pattern that saw the receiver curl upfield after the catch and outrun multiple defenders to the end zone. Lawrence also remained interception-free for the third time in four games, and he'll now have a few extra days to strengthen his knee before a Week 8 road matchup against an aggressive Steelers defense Sunday, Oct. 29.

Beathard is on hand to step in, with Nathan Rourke having been designated as the team's emergency third QB. Six games into the 2023 season, Lawrence has thrown for 1,439 yards with seven TDs and three picks to go along with 33 carries for 147 yards. With his Week 7 active status confirmed, Lawrence now is set to square off against a Saints defense that is allowing an average of 182 passing yards per game, which is the fifth fewest in the league to date.
