DeForest Buckner - Dealing with ankle sprain Buckner (ankle) had his initial X-rays come back negative, and his injury is considered to be a sprain, Joel A. Erickson of The Indianapolis Star reports.
Impact Buckner was carted off the field in the second half of the Colts' 16-10 loss to the Packers, but he appears to have avoided a fracture in his ankle. The defensive lineman is expected to undergo an MRI to determine the severity of the sprain in the near future.

Alec Pierce - Finds end zone in Week 2 loss Pierce secured five of seven targets for 56 yards and a touchdown in the Colts' 16-10 loss to the Packers on Sunday.
Impact Pierce was surprisingly the Colts' most impactful receiver for the second time in as many games to open the season, recording team-high reception and receiving yardage totals while also tying for the lead in targets. Pierce also recorded his second touchdown of the season -- matching both his 2022 and 2023 totals -- on a four-yard grab with just under two minutes remaining. The chemistry between Anthony Richardson and Pierce is undeniable, but it remains to be seen how the third-year wideout's targets will be affected by the eventual season debut of Josh Downs (ankle).

Michael Pittman Jr. - Three catches in loss Pittman brought in three of seven targets for 21 yards in the Colts' 16-10 loss to the Packers on Sunday.
Impact Pittman tied Alec Pierce for the team led in targets and even had the Colts' second-most receptions, but as his final line indicates, he did little with them. The possession receiver has had trouble establishing much rapport with Anthony Richardson through his first two games despite his past success with multiple other quarterbacks, mustering only seven receptions for 52 yards on 15 targets over the first pair of contests. Pittman will aim to turn around the slow start in a Week 3 home matchup against a tough Bears defense.

Impact Taylor looked like himself on his modest amount of opportunities, averaging 8.6 yards per carry with a long run of 29 yards. He also finished with the Colts' second-highest receiving yardage total after being shut out altogether through the air in the Week 1 loss to the Texans. Joel A. Erickson of The Indianapolis Star confirms that the talented running back did not have any injury concerns early in the fourth quarter when he was substituted for Trey Sermon on a key drive, and Taylor's otherwise strong performance was only missing a bit more volume and a touchdown. He'll aim to rectify both matters when he tangles with the Bears defense at home in Week 3.

Impact Gay missed Week 1 as he recovered from sports hernia surgery, His return in Week 2 didn't go as planned, as he missed a 50-yard FGA in the loss Sunday. Josh Downs - Viewed as 50-50 to play Downs (ankle), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Packers, is considered "50-50" to play Week 2, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Impact Though his ability to close the week as a full practice participant Friday is normally an indication of a player being ready to play on game day, Downs' status still looks to be up in the air since he had been a limited or non-participant in practice in the five weeks before that while managing a left high-ankle sprain. According to Rapoport, the Colts want to make sure that Downs has zero issues with the ankle before clearing him to play, so the wideout could be put through a pregame workout before the team makes a call on his availability. Official word on Downs' status will be provided when Indianapolis releases its inactive list 90 minutes prior to Sunday's 1 p.m. ET kickoff. If Downs doesn't suit up or is subject to a limited snap count, Alec Pierce and Adonai Mitchell could continue to see ample snaps alongside No. 1 wideout Michael Pittman.
