Among four active Ravens RBs Edwards is active alongside fellow running backs J.K. Dobbins, Mark Ingram and Justice Hill on Tuesday against the Cowboys.

Impact During a Week 12 loss at Pittsburgh, the Ravens were without Dobbins and Ingram, who were on the reserve/COVID-19 list. As a result, Edwards and Justice Hill split the RB workload, with the former turning nine carries into 10 yards and one TD while the latter had 11 touches for 40 yards from scrimmage. The presence of Dobbins and Ingram on Tuesday further clouds how much work Edwards can expect. Having said that, Baltimore may very well attempt to exploit the Cowboys' bottom-ranked run defense by feeding Edwards, Dobbins and Ingram early and often.

Impact As his final line indicates, Edwards mostly had a miserable time finding running room against the Steelers' stingy defensive front. However, he did salvage his day to an extent from a fantasy perspective by powering into the end zone from a yard out with 2:07 remaining in the first quarter to turn a Ray-Ray McCloud muffed punt into points. Edwards' extended opportunity Wednesday came with both Mark Ingram and J.K. Dobbins still on the reserve/COVID-19 list, but with both players likely to be ready for Tuesday night's Week 14 battle versus the Cowboys, his role could be more modest in that contest.

Impact Confirming a report from Michele Tafoya of NBC Sports, Rapoport relays that neither J.K. Dobbins (illness) nor Mark Ingram (illness) will be activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list ahead of the Week 12 contest. With top quarterback Lamar Jackson (illness) also sitting out while Robert Griffin steps in behind center, Edwards looks like the clear top candidate to dominate the carries for Baltimore. Edwards hasn't shown much aptitude as a pass catcher during his three-year career, however, so he could cede reps to fourth-stringer Justice Hill on third downs and in obvious passing situations.

Considering the Ravens rank second in the NFL in rush play percentage (51.9) and Edwards has averaged 5.1 yards per carry through two-plus seasons, he could have a productive outing Tuesday, assuming the game is played.

Increased role on tap Edwards is in line for an increased role Thursday against the Steelers after Mark Ingram and J.K. Dobbins were placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list, Jamison Hensley of ESPN reports.

Impact The Ravens' backfield depth is depleted in light of this news, but Edwards has shown he can handle an increased workload in the past. Edwards got the start against the Steelers in Week 17 of 2019 and took 21 carries for 130 yards. He also had his best game of the season to this point against Pittsburgh in Week 8 when he took 16 carries for 87 yards and a score. Edwards is coming off his quietest outing of the season -- a three-carry, six-yard performance against the Titans -- but that was due in part to Dobbins seeing the bulk of the backfield work. Look for Edwards to handle most of the carries Thursday against the Steelers, with Justice Hill in a backup role.

Impact Edwards was out-carried by J.K. Dobbins 15-3 and made no notable contributions to the outcome of the game. He did get one carry more than Mark Ingram, who has seen his role in the offense diminished. Even so, since Ingram returned in Week 10 against New England, Edwards has commanded only 10 rushing attempts across two contests.

Impact Mark Ingram was back, which impacted the snap distribution in the Baltimore backfield. Still, Edwards was effective when on the field. His snap share fell below 25 percent but Edwards is still seeing carries on a high percentage of his snaps. Put another way, Edwards has a 44.3 percentage of snaps with a touch, which is 63rd percentile among running backs. It's also worth noting that Edwards has gotten some work in the passing game the last three weeks; Edwards had three targets in six games before the bye and now has three catches for 42 yards in three games since the bye. It's not a significant target volume, but given Edwards' previous absence from the passing game, this is a development worth monitoring in the coming weeks. Baltimore hosts Tennessee on Sunday.
