Edwards didn't get much work Friday night, but he may now be the Week 1 starter and lead back in a road matchup with the Raiders on Monday Night Football (Sept. 13). The Ravens' other tailbacks are Justice Hill (who missed Saturday's game with an undisclosed injury), Ty'Son Williams and Nate McCrary.

Impact Edwards was effective as he almost always is. J.K. Dobbins is likely the clear lead back for Baltimore because of his uncommon talent, but Edwards might be an above average running back talent in his own right. Although not much of it is likely to occur on passing downs, Edwards should be a steady off-the-bench contributor for Baltimore.

He may just be working his way back into game shape, still catching up with teammates that didn't miss the early portion of camp.

Impact J.K. Dobbins has been expected to be the leader of the backfield this season but Edwards carries enough cachet to warrant a significant role as well. Edwards -- who signed a two-year, $10 million extension this offseason -- has averaged a strong 5.2 YPC over 414 career carries in three seasons and he is particularly effective in short-yardage situations with his ability to gain positive yardage at an 86.8 percent clip. Even if Dobbins is the snap count leader, Edwards projects to see plenty of work as well.
