0-10 Jets aim for first win against AFC East-rival Dolphins

Large workload looming? Gore appears set to serve as the Jets' de facto No. 1 running back following the placement of La'Mical Perine (ankle) on injured reserve, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Gore had been splitting time roughly evenly with Perine prior to the rookie's injury, and the veteran could realistically now find himself in position to handle 15-plus weekly touches. Such a role wouldn't even be too far off Gore's usual gig with the Jets, as he's handled double-digit touches in nine of 10 appearances this season. Ty Johnson is a candidate to complement Gore in a change-of-pace role, while Josh Adams has been signed to the active roster as added depth.

Winless Jets trying to stay positive after loss to Chargers

At least the New York Jets keep fighting
NOVEMBER 23, 2020 • Associated Press
Ends touchdown drought Gore carried 15 times for 61 yards and a touchdown while catching both his targets for 13 yards during Sunday's 34-28 loss to the Chargers.
Impact Gore led the team in carries by seven and averaged a respectable 4.1 yards per tote against a solid defensive unit. He scored a one-yard touchdown in the third quarter to end a touchdown drought that dated back to Week 3 of last season. The veteran now has double-digit carries in seven of his last eight games, but his fantasy value has been marginal due to weak yardage output and the aforementioned lack of touchdowns. With that said, Gore will look to build on this relatively productive effort next Sunday against a beatable Dolphins run defense.

Jets CB Poole having shoulder surgery, out for season

The New York Jets’ suddenly thin and inexperienced secondary took another big hit

Garners 14 touches Gore rushed 12 times for 46 yards and caught both of his targets for 13 yards in Monday night's 30-27 loss to the Patriots.
Impact Gore's touch tally trumped fellow tailback La'Mical Perine's eight, as did his yardage total compared to the rookie's 38 combined. Nonetheless, it was another solid but unspectacular outing for the veteran, who still hasn't scored this season. The 37-year-old will now embark on a welcomed bye week before turning his attention to a matchup against the Chargers in Week 11.

Jets' Darnold says shoulder 'all right,' unsure on playing

Sam Darnold isn’t sure yet if his sore shoulder will allow him to play Monday night
NOVEMBER 6, 2020 • Associated Press
Doesn't practice Friday Gore (hand/non-injury) didn't practice Friday.
Impact While it's unclear what the non-injury portion of his injury designation is connected to, Gore's participation, or lack thereof, Saturday will be worth monitoring considering he went from practicing fully Thursday to missing practice entirely Friday. Assuming he gets back on the practice field Saturday, Gore would put himself in good position to suit up Monday against the Patriots after playing through his hand injury last week.

Jets woeful offense gets worse in 35-9 loss to Chiefs

The winless New York Jets have been historically awful on offense through the first eight games of the season
NOVEMBER 1, 2020 • Associated Press
Suiting up vs. Chiefs Gore (hand) is active for Sunday's game against the Chiefs.
Impact Gore will get the green light to play despite having not been a full practice participant at any point this week. While Gore has led the New York backfield in snaps and carries this season, he was out-touched by rookie Lamical Perine for the first time during the campaign in last week's loss to the Bills. Expect the 0-7 Jets to continue prioritizing Perine ahead of the 37-year-old Gore during the second half of the season.
NOVEMBER 1, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Questionable with hand injury Gore (hand) is listed as questionable on the final injury report before Sunday's game against the Chiefs, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports.
Impact Gore will likely split carries with rookie La'Mical Perine if he suits up, but Perine would gain some against-the-grain fantasy appeal if Gore can't go. Kansas CIty has struggled against the run, and the Jets will likely have no choice but to stick with the running game regardless of game script given how inept the team's passing attack has looked, especially with leading receiver Jamison Crowder (groin) doubtful to suit up for this one.

OCTOBER 29, 2020 • Associated Press
Remains on injury report Gore, who was limited by a hand injury Wednesday, didn't practice Thursday, with the Jets classifying his absence as non-injury related.
Impact We'll have to wait until Friday to see if the Gore's hand issue is minor enough for him to be removed from the team's Week 8 injury report altogether, or if he approaches Sunday's game against the Chiefs with a questionable tag. Assuming he suits up this weekend, the veteran back would be in line to share backfield touches with La'Mical Perine.
OCTOBER 29, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Dealing with hand injury Gore (hand) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Impact It's unclear exactly what Gore is dealing with, but there's no indication that he's in danger of missing this Sunday's matchup against the Chiefs. Gore has missed just two games over the past 10 seasons, playing through plenty of injuries in that stretch. His role has been steady even though rookie La'Mical Perine has led the Jets backfield in snaps over the last two games, as Gore has recorded 130 yards from scrimmage on 26 touches in that stretch.
