Mixed bag in Saturday's start Thompson-Robinson completed 13 of 17 passes for 126 yards and an interception in Saturday's 27-12 preseason loss to the Vikings.

Impact The Browns sat their starters and key reserves for this one, and Thompson-Robinson got the start over Tyler Huntley as the duo compete for the No. 3 spot on the quarterback depth chart. Thompson-Robinson was efficient and led a touchdown drive on Cleveland's opening possession, but he also ended his day with an interception in the red zone during a two-minute drill just before halftime. Huntley got picked off twice in the second half however, providing little clarity on the job battle.

In line for preseason start Coach Kevin Stefanski said Thursday that Thompson-Robinson will start Saturday's exhibition game against the Vikings, Kelsey Russo of the Browns' official site reports.

Impact Thompson-Robinson will get a chance to make a case for his spot on the 53-man roster Saturday, with Deshaun Watson not slated for on-field reps until Cleveland's preseason finale. Jameis Winston is solidified as the No. 2 option behind Watson, which leaves Thompson-Robinson competing against Tyler Huntley for the No. 3 gig.

Practices Tuesday Thompson-Robinson (hip) participated in practice Tuesday, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Impact Thompson-Robinson was limited in drills during mandatory minicamp in June while rehabbing from a hip subluxation injury he sustained in Week 15 against the Texans. He appears be fully healthy as training camp gets underway, and he will compete with Tyler Huntley and Jameis Winston for the backup quarterback job behind starter Deshaun Watson.

Remains limited Thompson-Robinson (hip) participated in 7-on-7 drills Tuesday, but is still limited in practice, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports.

Impact Thompson-Robinson is still not fully cleared from a hip subluxation suffered during the Browns' Week 15 win over the Texans. There was hope he'd be cleared in time for mandatory minicamp, which began Monday, but it does appear the UCLA product is at least making progress in his recovery. DTR is expected to compete with Jameis Winston and Tyler Huntley for the top backup role behind Deshaun Watson (shoulder).

Impact Per Cabot, while Thompson-Robinson is slated to be available this weekend against the Jaguars, coach Kevin Stefanski isn't ready to ready to name the Browns' Week 14 starting QB. Per the report, the team is expected to take the call down to a game-time decision between Joe Flacco (who got the nod last weekend) and Thompson-Robinson.

Limited in practice again Thompson-Robinson (concussion) was a limited practice participant Thursday, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.

Impact Thompson-Robinson didn't take a notable step forward in his recovery from a concussion while maintaining limited practice activity for the second day in a row, but his continued presence on the field is at least an encouraging sign. Even so, Thompson-Robinson doesn't look to be trending toward the starting assignment Week 14 against the Jaguars, as Joe Flacco once again worked with the first-team offense Thursday and may be in line for a second consecutive start, per Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal. If Flacco draws the start this weekend, Thompson-Robinson wouldn't be a lock to serve as the No. 2 quarterback, as he still needs to clear the five-step concussion protocol in order to be available. In addition to practicing in full capacity Friday, Thompson-Robinson would also need to attain clearance from an independent neurologist before being removed from the protocol.

Impact Ma reports that Joe Flacco took the first-team reps while Thompson-Robinson got the second-team work in his return to practice. Coach Kevin Stefanski wasn't ready to name a starter Wednesday, saying he wanted to see things play out in practice before deciding on a QB for Sunday's game against Jacksonville. The early signs point to Flacco, especially after his competent showing Sunday at the Rams, plus there's still some chance Thompson-Robinson can't clear concussion protocol in time for the Week 14 contest.

Impact Thompson-Robinson missed Week 13 while in the concussion protocol, and he will need to gain full clearance before returning to the lineup. As such, his status is still in question for Cleveland's matchup against Jacksonville in Week 14. If Thompson-Robinson can't return to full health before the Browns take on the Jaguars, Joe Flacco will likely draw another start, with PJ Walker also being an option.
