Wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones addressed the media via Zoom on January 6, 2022.

Long gain Monday
Peoples-Jones caught three of five targets for 76 yards in Monday night's 26-14 loss to the Steelers.
Impact
Peoples-Jones led the Browns in receiving yards thanks to a game-long, 39-yard reception in the second half. That play helped set up a David Njoku touchdown, and Peoples-Jones trailed only Jarvis Landry's and Njoku's four receptions on the night. Having shown a penchant for occasional splash plays this season, Peoples-Jones will strive to make a similar impact in Week 18 versus the Bengals, a team he scored a 60-yard touchdown against earlier this season.

Could cede snaps to Schwartz
Cleveland head coach Kevin Stefanski said Anthony Schwartz's role will expand over the final two games, suggesting a decreased role for Peoples-Jones, Marla Ridenour of the Akron B...
Impact
Schwartz returned from a three-game absence due to a concussion to play a scaled-back role the last two games and caught a touchdown on his lone target in Week 16's loss to the Packers. The rookie speedster is similar to Peoples-Jones in that both are considered downfield threats, so it would seem natural any increase in Schwartz's role would come at the expense of Peoples-Jones' snap count. The second-year wideout caught just one of five targets for five yards last week and has a 44-percent catch rate (15 of 34 targets) over the last six games as the team's primary downfield option.

Struggles in road game
Peoples-Jones caught one pass for five yards on six targets against Green Bay on Sunday.
Impact
Peoples-Jones was dealt some bad luck in this one -- two of his targets resulted in interceptions for reasons that weren't really his fault -- but he also dropped an on-target deep ball from Baker Mayfield that might have changed the course of the game somewhat. The Browns need Peoples-Jones' speed on the field to complement the more possession-wideout skill sets of Jarvis Landry and Rashard Higgins, so DPJ should get opportunities to make up for this one, but for now it's a rather regrettable game in his 2021 season. The Browns face the Steelers in Week 17.

Four catches as top option
Peoples-Jones caught four of eight targets for 48 yards in Monday's 16-14 loss to the Raiders.
Impact
Peoples-Jones led the team in targets and receiving yards, as he was the top receiving option for quarterback Nick Mullens with wide receiver Jarvis Landry, as well as quarterbacks Baker Mayfield and Case Keenum, all on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Raiders defensive back Brandon Facyson knocked the ball out of Peoples-Jones' hand to prevent what should have been a big gain along the sideline in the first half, but DPJ heated up late and converted two crucial third downs on Cleveland's go-ahead drive in the fourth quarter. If Landry's not ready to return in Week 16 against the Packers, Peoples-Jones will remain atop the Browns' wide receiver depth chart.

Could be No. 1 receiver Week 15
Peoples-Jones will likely serve as Cleveland's No. 1 wideout for Monday's game against Las Vegas after Jarvis Landry (illness) wasn't reinstated from the reserve/COVID-19 list, Ant...
Impact
Rashard Higgins, Anthony Schwartz (concussion) and Ja'Marcus Bradley are also expected to see increased reps in two- and three-receiver sets sans Landry, but throughout the season, Peoples-Jones has held the most consistent role in the offensive game plan among Cleveland's available wideouts. Peoples-Jones has mostly been a boom-or-bust fantasy option -- he has four games with 70-plus receiving yards and six games with fewer than 40 yards -- but he should at least have a clear path to a fair amount of targets Week 15 with Landry out of the mix. Peoples-Jones' efficiency could suffer, however, as he'll be fielding targets from third-string quarterback Nick Mullens, who gets the start in his Cleveland debut after neither Baker Mayfield (illness) nor Case Keenum (illness) was able to clear the NFL's COVID-19 protocols ahead of Monday's 5 p.m. ET kickoff.

Browns-Raiders moved to Monday
Peoples-Jones and the Browns will no longer play the Raiders on Saturday, after the NFL officially rescheduled the matchup between the two teams for Monday at 5 p.m. ET.
Impact
Due to ongoing COVID-19-related issues within the Cleveland organization, the NFL is hopeful that by delaying the game two days, the Browns will restore enough players from the reserve/COVID-19 list to alleviate depth concerns on the roster. Given that Jarvis Landry (illness) is one of the players who tested positive for the virus in recent days, he's uncertain to clear the necessary protocols ahead of Monday's contest. If Landry is out, Peoples-Jones could find himself as the No. 1 receiver in a depleted Cleveland offense that could also be without either of its top two quarterbacks in Baker Mayfield and Case Keenum, who tested positive Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.

Leads team in receiving
Peoples-Jones caught five of seven targets for 90 yards in Sunday's 24-22 win over the Ravens.
Impact
Peoples-Jones led the Browns in yards through the air while posting season highs in receptions and targets. The second-year wideout had a long gain of 34 yards, which by itself topped his yardage total from his previous two games combined. Besides those quiet performances, however, Peoples-Jones has now managed at least 70 yards in four of his last six appearances, giving him decent momentum ahead of Week 15's Saturday contest versus the Raiders.

Returns to lineup
Peoples-Jones caught two of five targets for 10 yards in Sunday's 16-10 loss to the Ravens.
Impact
Peoples-Jones returned to active duty after missing one week due to a groin injury, an on-going issue that's forced him to miss three of the last six games. He's the successor to Odell Beckham as the top deep threat, but the passing game is hindered by quarterback Baker Mayfield, who's dealing with multiple injuries and has completed 50.6 percent of his passes over the last three weeks. The Browns head into a bye Week 13, which could be an opportunity for Mayfield to get healthier and head coach Kevin Stefanski to fix the team's passing attack.

Suiting up Sunday
Peoples-Jones (groin) is listed as active for Sunday night's game against the Ravens, Anthony Poisal of the Browns' official site reports.
Impact
Peoples-Jones, who was inactive last Sunday against the Lions, is back in action Sunday, and in the process he should reclaim a key role in the team's passing attack alongside wideout Jarvis Landry, especially with Rashard Higgins a healthy scratch. As long as he can stay healthy, Peoples-Jones profiles as the Browns' No. 2 WR option now that Odell Beckham is no longer in the mix, while Ja'Marcus Bradley and JoJo Natson also are in the mix for targets from QB Baker Mayfield in Week 12.

Expected to play in Week 12
Peoples-Jones (groin) is expected to play Sunday night against the Ravens, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Impact
Peoples-Jones, who was inactive last Sunday against the Lions, was able to practice in a limited fashion Thursday and Friday and now appears to be trending toward a return to action. The Browns' 8:20 ET kickoff Sunday adds an element of risk to rolling with Peoples-Jones in Week 12 fantasy lineups, but when healthy he's destined for a key role in the team's offense alongside fellow WR Jarvis Landry. If Peoples-Jones ends up limited or out versus Baltimore, added opportunities would be available for Rashard Higgins and Ja'Marcus Bradley.

Questionable for Week 12
Peoples-Jones (groin) will be listed as questionable for Sunday night's game against the Ravens, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Impact
With Peoples-Jones having returned to a limited practice Thursday, he's now trending in the right direction in advance of the contest, though if there's any doubt about his recovery from a groin injury, the Browns could err on the side of caution, with their bye on tap Week 13. Once Peoples-Jones is ready to play, a key role alongside Jarvis Landry awaits him, with Odell Beckham now with Rams.

Returns to limited practice
Peoples-Jones (groin) was listed as a limited participant on Thursday's injury report, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.
Impact
After missing practice Wednesday, Peoples-Jones' upgrade to limited participation is a positive indicator with regard to his chances of returning to action Sunday night against the Ravens. Unless he logs a full session Friday, however, Peoples-Jones seems destined to head into the weekend carrying a Week 12 injury designation.

Remains sidelined
Peoples-Jones (groin) won't practice Wednesday, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Impact
Along with Peoples-Jones, fellow wideouts Anthony Schwartz (concussion) and Jarvis Landry (knee) will be sidelined for the Browns' first Week 12 practice, though in the case of Landry, his absence is likely maintenance-related. Peoples-Jones and Schwartz were both inactive for the Week 11 victory over the Lions, so their statuses for Sunday's game against the Ravens will bear monitoring. In their absence this past weekend, Rashard Higgins and Ja'Marcus Bradley saw added work in the Browns' 13-10 win.

Won't suit up vs. DET
Peoples-Jones (groin) is listed as inactive Week 11 against the Lions.
Impact
While Peoples-Jones was upgraded to a limited participant on Friday's practice summary, reports from early Sunday morning indicated that he would be unlikely to suit up for the contest. Fortunately for the Browns, Jarvis Landry was able to shed his injury tag and is set to lead the receiving corps in this contest. With Odell Beckham now in Los Angeles, Rashard Higgins could be in for a notable uptick in snaps behind Landry, while the tight ends expect to be involved as well. Collectively, the unit will be taking on a Lions defense that averages the second-most yards per target allowed to opposing wideouts through nine games.
