Casting call: Skidding Jaguars holding QB, GM auditions
The Jacksonville Jaguars are holding all sorts of auditions during Christmas week
DECEMBER 23, 2020

53 yards in defeat
Chark caught four of five targets for 53 yards during Sunday's 40-14 loss to the Ravens.
Impact
Baltimore had this game in hand early and went into halftime with a 26-0 lead, but Jacksonville's pass catchers didn't benefit much from the negative game script. Chark clearly remains the Jaguars' No. 1 wide receiver, but that hasn't meant much lately with only 12 catches for 154 yards and zero touchdowns over his past four games. A matchup with the Bears in Week 16 is unlikely to improve his outlook.

Does little with nine targets
Chark recorded two receptions on nine targets for 16 yards in Week 14 against the Titans.
Impact
Chark was third on the team with nine targets -- his highest mark since Week 9. However, he failed to get on the same page as either Mike Glennon or Gardner Minshew, leaving with him another subpar performance. Given the lack of clarity regarding who will be under center for the Jaguars in Week 15 against the Ravens and the difficulty of the matchup, it will be tough for Chark to produce regardless of his target volume.

Two catches in Week 13
Chark caught two of seven targets for 41 yards in Sunday's 27-24 overtime loss to Minnesota.
Impact
Chark was removed from the injury report after missing last week's game with a rib injury, but he still didn't seem to be 100 percent and failed to get on the same page as quarterback Mike Glennon. Jacksonville's No. 1 receiver will look to build on his season totals of 43 catches, 575 yards and four touchdowns in Week 14 against the Titans.

Clear for Week 13
Chark (ribs) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game at Minnesota, John Shipley of SI.com reports.
Impact
The 24-year-old sat out Week 12 due to the rib injury and began the week practicing as a limited participant, but he was able to show enough to avoid the questionable tag. Chark will be seeing his first game action with Mike Glennon at quarterback, who took over the starting job last week.

Logs limited practice
Chark (ribs) remained limited at practice Thursday.
Impact
Chark was unable to practice last week, so back-to-back practices -- albeit in a limited fashion -- have the wideout trending in the right direction as Sunday's game against the Vikings approaches. Friday's final injury report of the week should reveal whether he heads into the weekend listed as questionable, or minus a Week 13 injury designation.

Practices in limited fashion
Chark (ribs) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, John Reid of The Florida Times-Union reports.
Impact
Chark wasn't able to practice in any capacity prior to being ruled out for last weekend's game against the Browns, so his ability to begin the current week as a limited participant is a sign of progress. Mike Glennon is in line to start at quarterback during Sunday's game in Minnesota, so if Chark is cleared to return Week 13, he'll face the challenge of working with his third different signal-caller of the season.

Ruled out this week
Chark (ribs) won't play Sunday against the Browns, John Oehser of the Jaguars' official site
Impact
The same applies to Chris Conley (hip), but on the plus side for the Jaguars, Laviska Shenault (hamstring) is slated to return to action this weekend and he should head the team's Week 12 wideout corps along with Keelan Cole.

Logs another DNP
Chark (ribs) didn't practice Thursday.
Impact
Back-to-back absences put Chark's status for Sunday's game against the Browns in doubt. A return to practice Friday, in any capacity, would bolster his chances of suiting up this weekend. In addition to Chark being banged up, it's also worth noting that fellow wideouts Laviska Shenault (hamstring) and Chris Conley (hip) were limited at practice Thursday.

Unable to practice Wednesday
Chark didn't participate in Wednesday's practice due to injured ribs.
Impact
Chark handled his typical workload in last week's loss to the Steelers, but he may have been playing hurt during the contest. He'll look to upgrade his participation by Friday to have a shot to play Sunday against the Browns, who will be without No. 1 cornerback Denzel Ward (calf). If Chark is able to play, he'll catch passes from his third quarterback of the year, as Mike Glennon has been named the Week 12 starter.

Logs four catches against Steelers
Chark secured four of eight targets for 41 receiving yards during Sunday's 27-3 loss to Pittsburgh.
Impact
Chark exploded with seven catches for 146 yards and a touchdown in quarterback Jake Luton's first start Week 9 against the Texans, but he's produced a tempered eight receptions for 97 yards in two outings since. Despite the offensive struggles, exemplified by just one total passing TD for the Jaguars between Weeks 10 and 11, Chark remains the clear No. 1 receiving option. The 24-year-old has averaged 8.2 targets per game since Week 4. Jacksonville will next prepare for a home test against Cleveland on Sunday.

Team's leading receiver in loss
Chark caught four of five targets for 56 receiving yards during Sunday's 24-20 road loss to the Packers.
Impact
On the heels of a 146-yard, one-TD performance last week against the Texans, Chark again finished as his team's leading receiver despite ranking third behind Chris Conley (eight) and Keelan Cole (seven) in targets. After compiling 73 receptions and 1,008 receiving yards during a breakout 2019, Chark now has 37 total catches for 493 yards through his first eight appearances of the 2020 campaign. A Week 11 matchup against the Steelers is formidable, with Pittsburgh ranking third best in catch rate allowed to opposing wideouts (61.9 percent). However, Pittsburgh is tied for fifth worst with 12 receiving TDs surrendered to opposing WRs, so Chark could provide a lucrative fantasy week nonetheless.

Ready for Week 10
Chark (illness) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's game in Green Bay.
Impact
Chark didn't practice Thursday due to a non-COVID-19-related illness, but the ailment won't hurt his ability to suit up this weekend. He'll look to produce against a Packers defense that has given up 7.9 yards per target and eight touchdowns to wide receivers in eight games (both top 10 most stingy) this season.

Misses practice Thursday
Chark (illness) didn't practice Thursday, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
Impact
The report did specify that Chark's illness is not COVID-related, so for now it looks like he should be able to recover in time for Sunday's game against the Packers. Friday's injury report will reveal whether the wideout approaches that game with a Week 10 injury designation or gains full clearance to play this weekend.
