Bills give Devin Singletary, Zack Moss vote of confidence (Post-2021 NFL Draft winners/losers on Buffalo’s roster) There was plenty of talk about drafting a running back early in the 2021 NFL Draft, but the Bills avoided the position entirely.
MAY 4, 2021 • SYRACUSE.COM
Competition remains as-is The Bills did not select a running back with any of their eight selections in the 2021 NFL Draft to compete with Singletary and others for playing time.
Impact Buffalo, picking near the end of the first round, never had a chance at Najee Harris or Travis Etienne, nor are we sure the team would have even chosen a running back had it had the chance. As it stands, Singletary is still at the top of the Bills' depth chart, but none of the options have the look of a feature back at this stage of their careers, and he'll compete with Zack Moss and newcomer Matt Breida -- plus anyone else the team might bring in -- to try to garner his share of the playing time in what's expected to be a high-powered offense once again.

Limited impact as lead back Singletary carried six times for 17 yards and caught two of three targets for nine yards Sunday in the Bills' 38-24 loss to the Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game.
Impact Singletary received the opportunity to work as the Bills' lead man out of the backfield for the team's final two playoff games while Zack Moss (ankle) was sidelined, but the Florida Atlantic product was mainly an afterthought in Buffalo's pass-happy offense. He logged just 13 carries between the Bills' divisional-round win over the Ravens and the loss to Kansas City, mustering only 42 yards. Assuming he experiences no complications in his recovery from offseason ankle surgery, Moss should open 2021 as Option 1A on the ground, relegating Singletary to more of a change-of-pace role.

Logs 10 touches in divisional round Singletary registered 25 yards on seven carries, securing all three of his targets for 12 receiving yards during Saturday's 17-3 divisional-round win against the Ravens.
Impact Singletary entered the playoff bout with just six combined carries for 28 yards over his two preceding outings. However, he was expected to experience an uptick in offensive usage with backfield mate Zack Moss (ankle) moved to IR on Tuesday. That didn't turn out to be the case, necessarily. After seeing Baltimore contain NFL rushing champion Derrick Henry to 40 yards over 18 carries during the wild-card round, Buffalo elected to open up the game with passes on 19 of the team's first 20 plays from scrimmage. Buffalo ultimately threw 37 times compared to 16 total rush attempts, but the team may choose to deploy a slightly more run-heavy game script if tasked with an AFC Championship Game matchup against Patrick Mahomes and the explosive Chiefs offense. A showdown with the Browns would be challenging, as it would offer a home matchup against the NFL's ninth-ranked rush defense.

Ticketed for more work With Zack Moss (ankle) expected to miss the rest of the playoffs, Singletary is set for the lead role in Buffalo's backfield, USA Today's Bradley Gelber reports.
Impact Moss and Singletary worked in a 50/50 split for most of the season, apart from Weeks 3-5 when the rookie was out with a toe injury. Singletary handled 89, 89 and 63 percent of offensive snaps in those three games, averaging 14.0 carries for 50.7 yards and 0.33 TDs, plus 3.3 catches for 26.3 yards on 4.0 targets. The Bills could turn to Singletary in an every-down role again, but they also might let T.J. Yeldon and/or Taiwan Jones handle some snaps this Saturday against the Ravens.
JANUARY 11, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Six touches in playoff win Singletary rushed three times for 21 yards and caught all three of his targets for 23 yards in Saturday's 27-24 wild-card round win over the Colts.
Impact Singletary played second fiddle to Zack Moss (seven carries, four catches) for most of the game but took over as the lead back after Moss was carted off with an ankle injury early in the fourth quarter. The running back position is an afterthought in a Bills offense that relies mostly on quarterback Josh Allen in all situations, as evidenced by Allen's 35 pass attempts and team-high 11 rushing attempts. That said, Singletary should see an uptick in workload in the AFC divisional round next week if Moss is unavailable.
JANUARY 9, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Limited Week 17 action Singletary carried the ball three times for just seven yards in Sunday's win over Miami and caught his only target for six yards.
Impact The Bills rested most of their starters for the second half of the regular-season finale, so Singletary should be fresh when the Bills meet the Colts to open up the playoff slate Saturday. Even though he was healthy just about the entire season, it was a terrible campaign by fantasy standards for the second-year back out of Florida Atlantic. Singletary played every game and still didn't hit 1,000 yards from scrimmage, often ceding important work to rookie Zack Moss. Singletary finished 32nd among running backs in half-point PPR formats, far below his draft-day value and behind the likes of free-agent pickups such as Nyheim Hines, Chase Edmonds and Jeff Wilson.

The Latest: Henry runs for 2k, Titans' doink wins AFC South

The Tennessee Titans needed the game of Derrick Henry’s career and another big comeback to win their first AFC South title since 2008
JANUARY 3, 2021 • Associated Press
Tops 50 scrimmage yards Singletary rushed 10 times for 36 yards and caught both of his targets for 16 yards in Monday night's 38-9 win over the Patriots.
Impact Singletary had a couple gains of 10-plus yards, but otherwise was held in check. In comparison, running mate Zack Moss rushed 10 times for 57 yards and a touchdown and caught one pass for no yards. Given Buffalo's backfield rotation, Singletary's weekly upside remains capped to a degree, but with double-digit touches in now four of his last five games, Singletary's usage is enough to warrant reasonable value ahead of Sunday's season finale versus the Dolphins, a game in which the Bills may put their best foot forward in an attempt to secure the No. 2 seed in the AFC.
