Impact Samuel made one appearance this preseason, taking a carry for 19 yards. By all accounts, he's been a favorite target of Jayden Daniels this summer, displaying strong chemistry with the young QB throughout training camp. Building chemistry with Daniels Samuel and QB Jayden Daniels have shown a strong connection throughout training camp, according to Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic.

Impact Samuel has been the de facto No. 1 wideout at training camp in the absence of Terry McLaurin, who requested a trade at the beginning of August due to a contract dispute. It sounds like Samuel and QB Jayden Daniels built chemistry quickly, setting the table for Samuel to have a big role in Washington's offense right out of the gate. The report also notes that Samuel currently weighs around 220 pounds, with 9 percent body fat, after playing much of last season at 225 pounds (presumably with a higher body fat percentage). Conditioning was an issue last year in San Francisco, although that was seemingly a product of pneumonia more so than anything to do with his weight or training. Samuel focused on conditioning and stamina this offseason, preparing to play in Kliff Kingsbury's uptempo offense.

Injures left hand Saturday Samuel injured his left hand while diving for a catch during Saturday's training camp practice, Commanders writer Ben Standig reports.

Impact Samuel left practice shortly after the injury, and the severity of the injury will be determined once he undergoes further testing. He is expected to be Jayden Daniels' top weapon for as long as Terry McLaurin (ankle/contract) is sidelined. The severity of Samuel's injury isn't clear, but if he's held out of practice, that would give Jaylin Lane, Michael Gallup and K.J. Osborn to work in three-wideout sets with the first-team offense alongside Noah Brown and Luke McCaffrey. Samuel signed a one-year, $17 million contract with the Commanders in March after spending the first six years of his NFL career with the 49ers.
