Ruled out Samuel (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Rams, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.

Impact Samuel didn't practice at all this week and now has a chance to get more rest with the 49ers heading on bye Week 9. As for Sunday, Samuel's absence increased the target projections for Brandon Aiyuk, George Kittle and Christian McCaffrey, while the vacated wideout snaps should go to some combination of Ray-Ray McCloud, Jauan Jennings (questionable, hamstring) and Danny Gray. For Samuel, the next chance to play is Nov. 13 against the Chargers.

Dealing with hamstring issue Coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that Samuel is "day-to-day" due to a hamstring injury, David Lombardi of The Athletic reports.

Impact Samuel logged a normal 86 percent of the offensive plays during Sunday's 44-23 loss to the Chiefs en route to five catches (on seven targets) for 42 yards and one carry for two yards. With Christian McCaffrey on board following a trade with Carolina last Thursday, San Francisco's backfield breakdown likely will be paced by McCaffrey and Jeff Wilson in the short term, and McCaffrey and Elijah Mitchell once the latter recovers from his MCL sprain at some point in November. As a result, Samuel's carry count may be reduced moving forward, but first he'll need to put his current health concern behind him ahead of a Week 8 matchup at the Rams this Sunday.

Impact Samuel finished with his worst fantasy performance of 2022 despite the favorable game script. The dual-threat superstar received six combined touches (8.5 average prior to Sunday), but Kansas City's defense did a good job of closing in anytime he touched the ball. The mid-week addition of star running back, Christian McCaffrey, should result in fewer rushing attempts for Samuel moving forward (just one today). This shouldn't be viewed as a negative by Deebo's fantasy managers, as it helps open up more targets for the 26-year-old if he isn't forced to supplement a backfield that lacked depth prior to the trade. Samuel remains one of the league's top fantasy assets with 525 combined yards and three touchdowns through seven contests heading into next Sunday's tilt against the Rams.

Brandon Aiyuk's two scores prevented his fellow starting wideout from extending his touchdown streak to three games. The 26-year-old has now tallied 481 combined yards to go along with three touchdowns through six contests.
