Done for season
Evans (knee) was placed on IR on Friday and will miss the remainder of the season, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Impact
Evans started the season on IR and missed the first six weeks due to his bothersome knee before suiting up in Week 7 against Kansas City. His knee evidently didn't feel right in that game, which is why the team has opted to shut Evans down again. Being placed on IR the second time means Evans will miss the remainder of the campaign, so receiving back Jeremy McNichols will go back to working as Derrick Henry's primary backup.

Limited by knee issue
Evans was a limited participant at Thursday's practice due to ta knee injury, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Impact
The 23-year-old made his season debut Week 7 against the Chiefs after missing the first six weeks of the year with the knee injury, and he's now back on the injury report. It's unclear if Evans aggravated that injury or if he's dealing with a new issue, but the fact he was still practicing in some capacity indicates it may not be a serious concern.

Eased into debut
Evans carried the ball twice for seven yards in Sunday's 27-3 win over Kansas City. He added two receptions for 11 yards.
Impact
Evans was activated off injured reserve Saturday and played six offensive snaps. As expected, he worked as a backup to Derrick Henry, though he split second-string duties with Jeremy McNichols. So long as he is healthy, Henry will clearly maintain a heavy workload out of the backfield, though it's unclear whether Evans or McNichols will now serve as his primary backup.

Activated off IR
Evans (knee) was activated off injured reserve Saturday, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Impact
Evans will now slot in a backfield increasingly dominated by the impossibly successful Derrick Henry. Jeremy McNichols (ankle) has operated as the team's pass-catching back to begin the season, but he's played just 15 offensive snaps combined over the last two weeks and could yield that role to Evans given his struggles as of late.

Rejoins practice
Running backs coach Tony Dews indicated Tuesday that Evans (knee) took part in practice last week, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Impact
Evans was designated to return from injured reserve last Wednesday and apparently got in some practice immediately. His 21-day window to be evaluated in practice has thus begun, by the end of which the team must decide to either activate him or keep him on injured reserve for the rest of the season. Assuming he returns, Evans figures to join the conversation alongside Jeremy McNichols for backup duties to Derrick Henry.

Designated to return from IR
The Titans designated Evans (knee) for a return from injured reserve Wednesday.
Impact
Tennessee now has a 21-day window to evaluate Evans in practices before deciding whether to add him back to the 53-man roster or stash him on IR for the remainder of the season. Assuming he incurs no setbacks upon returning to practice, the 2020 third-round pick could challenge Jeremy McNichols for the top change-of-pace role behind undisputed top back Derrick Henry as soon as Sunday in Jacksonville.

Nearing return to practice
Coach Mike Vrabel is hopeful that Evans (knee) will be able to return to practice Wednesday, John Glennon of BroadwaySportsMedia.com reports.
Impact
Evans has been on injured reserve since the start of the season due to a knee injury, but he's eligible to return as soon as he's cleared by the team's medical staff. Whether he'll be able to do so for Sunday's Week 5 matchup against Jacksonville remains to be seen, but practicing would be a significant step in his recovery.

Lands on IR
Evans (knee) has been placed on IR by the Titans.
Impact
Evans, who had been dealing with a knee issue, will thus miss at least the first three games of the regular season. Now that he's unavailable to the team, at least early on, Mekhi Sargent's profile in the offense behind undisputed top back Derrick Henry should expand, while Jeremy McNichols remains on the reserve/COVID-19 list. In that context, we wouldn't be surprised to see Tennessee add backfield depth in short order as NFL rosters continue to shuffle in the wake of initial cut-downs.

Misses preseason finale
Evans (knee) didn't play in Saturday's preseason finale against the Bears, Mike Moraitis of USA Today reports.
Impact
The running back is still bouncing back from a knee issue and with Brian Hill (undisclosed) now on IR and Jeremy McNichols on the COVID-19 list, the team's depth behind starter Derrick Henry is currently taxed. When healthy, Evans profiles as the Titans' No. 2 RB, though it's an assignment that doesn't carry much fantasy utility so long as Henry is available.

Misses Saturday's game
Evans (leg) didn't play in Saturday's preseason game against the Buccaneers, Steve Layman of newschannel5.com reports.
Impact
Nor did top back Derrick Henry, which paved the way for Mekhi Sargent, Brian Hill and Jeremy McNichols to handle the team's rushing duties Saturday. Evans is penciled in as Henry's top backup, but he'll need to bounce back from what appears to be a knee or hamstring issue that has slowed him of late in order to fend off the challenges presented by Sargent, Hill and McNichols.

Considered day-to-day
Coach Mike Vrabel said Evans (knee) is day-to-day after his early exit from Friday's preseason win over Atlanta, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Impact
Evans got the start and took four carries for 26 yards, working ahead of Jeremy McNichols, Brian Hill and Mekhi Sargent. The Titans then used McNichols and Sargent throughout the second quarter, followed by Hill and Sargent after halftime. Only Evans topped 3.6 YPC, though Sargent (16 carries for 58 yards) and Hill (12 for 43) did handle far more volume. Assuming the knee injury isn't serious, Evans remains the favorite for the No. 2 RB spot behind workhorse Derrick Henry. It's a job that likely includes third-down snaps, though the Titans could use one player for that role and another as the backup on early downs. Evans appeared capable of both assignments Friday night, albeit in a brief appearance before the knee injury forced him out.

Picks up knee injury
Evans is questionable to return to Friday's preseason game in Atlanta, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Impact
Evans limped off the field late in the first quarter but not before taking four carries for 26 yards and gathering in his only target for two yards. He started for stud running back Derrick Henry, who clearly doesn't need reps during exhibition season, but Evans' opportunity may be short-lived. If Evans is unable to return, Brian Hill, Jeremy McNichols and Mekhi Sargent will be the RBs available to the Titans offense.
