Getting starting nod Friday
Coach Mike Vrabel relayed Wednesday that Evans will start Friday's preseason contest in Atlanta, John Glennon of BroadwaySportsMedia.com reports.
Impact
With Derrick Henry not needing many, if any, preseason touches, Evans and the rest of the Titans backfield are poised for plenty of work in the team's three exhibitions. As a rookie third-rounder last season, Evans battled injuries and fumbles, averaging just 3.9 yards on 14 carries and hauling in two of four targets for 27 yards and one TD in five appearances.

Getting heavy workload
Evans has adjusted well to new wrinkles in the offense and has carried a big workload in camp, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Impact
Evans was listed as the co-No. 2 running back on the team's initial depth chart. That was a strong vote of confidence for the second-year back and this report only reinforces that placement. Evans may find it difficult to fully surpass Brian Hill on the depth chart early on in the season, though he could be in a position to get some work behind Derrick Henry -- particularly in the passing game.

In competition for backup job
Evans was listed alongside Brian Hill as the Titans' second running back on the first official depth chart of the season, Gentry Estes of the Tennessean reports.
Impact
Evans was expected to battle with Hill and Jeremy McNichols for the team's second running back job. That Evans is already listed ahead of McNichols is a significant step forward, as he was sidelined for large portions of his rookie campaign with hamstring and shoulder injuries. Of course, even if he wins the backup job, Evans will not see significant touches without an injury to Derrick Henry.

Pushing for backup job
Evans looked fast during spring practices and could earn a role in the Tennessee offense this season, Joe Rexrode of The Athletic reports.
Impact
The 2020 third-round pick was limited to five games and 16 touches as a rookie, with recurring hamstring injuries affecting his availability. Now healthy, Evans will challenge Jeremy McNichols for snaps on passing downs, while free-agent acquisition Brian Hill is the chief competition to spell bell cow Derrick Henry on early downs. Even if he wins both roles, Evans will have a hard time establishing mainstream fantasy value unless Henry misses time. Apart from Henry, Tennessee tailbacks accounted for only 150 carries and 55 targets over the past two years combined.

Clear of shoulder injury
Evans (shoulder) doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's wild-card round game against the Ravens after practicing fully Friday, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site rep...
Impact
Evans was limited Wednesday and Thursday but shrugged off the injury Friday and should be good to go for Sunday's playoff game. Barring an injury to Derrick Henry, the rookie third-round pick will feature almost exclusively on special teams.

Limited in Wednesday's session
Evans (shoulder) was listed as a limited participant on Wednesday's practice estimate, Turron Davenport of ESPN.com reports.
Impact
Evans rarely sees the field on offense with Derrick Henry holding a near monopoly on touches in Tennessee's backfield, but the rookie third-round pick has carved out a sizable special teams role heading into Sunday's wild-card round game against the Ravens. He played 17 special teams snaps in the season finale and logged 16 yards on one kick return.

Role on special teams continues
Evans did not record a rush or target in Week 17 against the Texans. He returned one kick for 16 yards.
Impact
Evans was on the field for only one offensive snap and did not record a statistic. However, he did log 17 special teams snaps and continued to serve as the primary kick returner for the Titans. Evans had a quiet rookie year, in part due to a hamstring injury and also because of Derrick Henry's dominance. He'll look to make a special teams impact during the Titans' wild-card matchup with the Ravens.

Busy on kick returns
Evans ran the ball once for three yards, and he failed to haul in either of his targets during Sunday night's 40-14 loss to Green Bay. He also recorded 145 yards on six kickoff ret...
Impact
Evans made his second game appearance since overcoming a hamstring injury and being removed from IR on Dec. 7. The third-round rookie enjoyed a significantly more effective outing in registering 57 scrimmage yards and a touchdown over 10 Week 15 touches against the Lions. Tennessee was pushed into a pass-heavy attack that mitigated Evans' involvement Sunday night, never leading in the game and falling behind by as many as 19 points in the second and third quarters.

Scores touchdown in garbage time
Evans carried the ball eight times for 30 yards in Week 15 against the Lions. He added two receptions for 27 yards and a touchdown.
Impact
Evans was active for the first time since Week 5 after battling a hamstring injury that placed him on injured reserve. He was the only back besides Derrick Henry to earn a touch on the week, though he didn't get an offensive touch until early in the fourth quarter. Regarded as a strong pass-catching back coming out of Appalachian State, Evans excelled in that role to record his first professional touchdown.

Not active Sunday
Evans (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game at Jacksonville.
Impact
Evans was activated from injured reserve at the start of the week, but he won't be suiting up in his first game back on the 53-man roster. Jeremy McNichols has secured the No. 2 job in the backfield behind Derrick Henry, and Senorise Perry is also active as a depth option.
