In line for starting role Williams is likely in line for a starting role after Clyde Edwards-Helaire suffered a sprained MCL in Sunday's loss to the Bills, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Impact Williams entered Sunday's game after Edwards-Helaire went down, and he recorded five carries for 27 yards while hauling in three of five targets for 18 yards. While Edwards-Helaire's injury isn't as serious as the team initially feared, he's still slated to miss time. As a result, Williams should be the lead back with Jerick McKinnon also on hand as the Chiefs prepare for a favorable matchup against Washington in Week 6.

Impact Edwards-Helaire went down with an apparent knee injury in the second half of Sunday's contest, and while he was eventually able to limp off the field, the running back was clearly in pain. We will have to wait for an update on the Chiefs' starting tailback's knee, but Williams should take over if CEH is forced to miss any time. The 26-year-old would receive a huge boost in value if he is asked to start for this potent offense, so do not hesitate on pulling the trigger on the waiver wire in the event he does start against Washington on Sunday.

Impact Williams played second fiddle to Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who topped 100 yards on the ground and found the end zone as a receiver. That said, Williams received a sizable chunk of the workload, most notably getting the call from one yard out in the third quarter for his second rushing touchdown of the season. The Chiefs' offense is explosive enough for both Edwards-Helaire and Williams to find success on a weekly basis, though the latter will likely struggle to provide much value unless he gets into the end zone.

Edwards-Helaire still turned out the more productive game, posting 17 carries for 100 yards and a pair of catches for another nine and a score, so there's little reason to anticipate a changing of the guard in the backfield is forthcoming. However, Williams could become an attractive fantasy option should Edwards-Helaire miss any time.
