Lands deal with Arizona Williams signed with the Cardinals on Tuesday, NFL reporter Jordan Schultz reports.
Impact Williams finished the 2021 campaign with 558 rushing yards, 452 receiving yards and eight total touchdowns across 17 appearances for Kansas City last season. The AFC West squad reportedly wanted to re-sign Williams this offseason, but the 27-year-old opted to test free agency instead. In Arizona, Williams will compete with rookie Keaontay Ingram and second-year back Eno Benjamin for touches behind James Connor, but Williams' experience and pass protection skills likely land him as the favorite to earn the No. 2 spot on the depth chart to start 2022.

Set to test free agency Williams is slated to test the free-agent market, Herbie Teope of The Kansas City Star reports.
Impact Per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, the Chiefs tried to re-sign Williams -- who worked in tandem with Clyde Edwards-Helaire last season -- ahead of the opening of free agency. With no deal arrived at, the 26-year-old, who led the team with 558 rushing yards (on 144 carries) and added 47 catches for 452 yards and eight total TDs in 17 games in 2021, now is on track have a chance to field offers from other teams looking for backfield help.

Suits up Sunday Williams (toe) is listed as active for Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Bengals, Herbie Teope of The Kansas City Star reports.
Impact After logging a full practice Wednesday, Williams, who was inactive for last weekend's divisional-round win over Buffalo, was listed as limited Thursday and Friday, before being officially deemed questionable ahead of Sunday's contest. While Williams is in uniform, it remains to be seen how much of a workload he'll see in his return to action, with both Jerick McKinnon and Clyde Edwards-Helaire also in Kansas City's backfield mix. With that in mind, Williams, who recorded 144 carries for 558 yards and six TDs to go along with 47 catches for 452 yards and a pair of receiving scores in 17 regular-season appearances, profiles as a hit-or-miss fantasy option versus Cincinnati, while coming off his toe injury.

Chance to play Sunday Williams (toe) is trending toward a game-time decision for Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Bengals, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Williams was forced out of a Week 18 win at Denver and has managed just eight offensive snaps and one carry in one appearance in the meantime in the wild-card round versus the Steelers. Despite being questionable last Sunday against the Bills -- as he is this weekend -- he was among the Chiefs' inactives in the divisional round. Williams apparently is feeling better this time around, but the team ultimately will make a decision on his availability about 90 minutes before Sunday's 3:00 p.m. ET kickoff. Even if Williams is active, though, he may be a distant third in the backfield pecking order behind Jerick McKinnon and Clyde Edwards-Helaire.

Deemed questionable for AFCCG Williams (toe) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Bengals.
Impact Williams was listed as a full practice participant Wednesday before sliding back to limited Thursday and Friday. He also was listed as questionable for KC's first two playoff games, but he logged just eight snaps in the wild-card round and was inactive for the divisional-round win over Buffalo. Even if Williams plays, he may just be the No. 3 back behind Jerick McKinnon and Clyde Edwards-Helaire at this point, especially if he's fighting through pain.
JANUARY 28 • ROTOWIRE
Logs limited practice Williams (toe) was limited at practice Thursday.
Impact Williams practiced fully Wednesday, but at this stage it's unclear if his limitations Thursday were maintenance-related or indicative of a setback. What the running back is able to do during Friday's session should add clarity with regard to his status for Sunday's AFC Championship Game versus the Bengals. If Williams is available this weekend, his return to the mix would bolster a Kansas City backfield that was led by Jerick McKinnon and Clyde Edwards-Helaire in the team's divisional-round win over the Bills.
JANUARY 27 • ROTOWIRE
Logs full practice Williams (toe) practiced fully Wednesday.
Impact Williams, who returned to limited participation in practice last Friday, was inactive for Kansas City's divisional-round win over the Bills. However, his return to full participation to begin the current week paves the way for the running back to be available for Sunday's AFC Championship Game versus the Bengals, barring any setbacks. If Williams suits up this weekend, he would re-enter a backfield that also includes Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Jerick McKinnon. When all three players have been healthy this season, Williams hasn't typically seen enough volume to be a worthy fantasy option.

Sitting out divisional round Williams (toe) is inactive for Sunday night's divisional-round game against the Bills, Adam Teicher of ESPN.com reports.
Impact After missing practice Wednesday and Thursday, Williams returned to a limited session Friday but will sit this one out. Meanwhile, Kansas City welcomes back Clyde Edwards-Helaire (shoulder) -- who last played Week 16 -- to a running back corps that also includes Jerick McKinnon, who led the team's ground game in last weekend's wild-card win over the Steelers, with Derrick Gore on hand in reserve. In Williams' absence, expect Edwards-Helaire to reclaim a solid share of the team's touches, with McKinnon involved as well in the wake of his effective outing in the Chiefs' playoff opener.
JANUARY 23 • ROTOWIRE
Questionable for Sunday's game Williams (toe) is officially listed as questionable for Sunday night's playoff game against the Bills after returning to a limited practice Friday.
Impact Meanwhile, Clyde Edwards-Helaire (shoulder) practiced fully all week and doesn't carry an injury designation, which sets the stage for him to suit up Sunday, barring any last-minute issues, according to Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com. Per Nate Taylor of The Athletic, coach Andy Reid previously indicated that he was hopeful Williams would be available for the contest, but the running back's divisional-round status won't be confirmed until Kansas City's inactives are released prior to Sunday's 6:30 ET kickoff. If active, Williams would presumably work in a time-share with Edwards-Helaire and Jerick McKinnon, who led the team's backfield in last weekend's wild-card win over the Steelers.

Misses another practice Williams (toe) didn't practice Thursday, Herbie Teope of The Kansas City Star reports.
Impact Williams missed Wednesday's practice as well, so what he's able to do Friday will be telling with regard to his chances of suiting up for Sunday's divisional-round game against the Bills. While Williams' status for the contest is cloudy for now, Clyde Edwards-Helaire (shoulder) has been practicing this week and thus is trending toward a return to action versus Buffalo. In Kansas City's wild-card win over the Steelers this past weekend, Williams logged just eight snaps on offense and one carry, while Jerick McKinnon led the team's backfield with 12 carries on 51 snaps.
