Returning to NOLA for 2025 The Saints signed Pettis to a one-year contract Sunday, Ari Merov of The 33rd Team reports.
Impact Pettis signed with the Saints' practice squad in October after being let go by the Bears with an injury settlement in early September. He was elevated from the practice squad three times before being signed to the active roster in December and saw an increased role the Saints' offense over the last four games of the regular season, during which he logged nine catches (on 22 targets) for 98 yards and one touchdown. Now under contract for one more year, Pettis will look to earn an even bigger role for himself for the 2025 campaign under new head coach Kellen Moore.

Catches TD to cap off season Pettis had two receptions (on six targets) for 16 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's 27-19 loss to the Buccaneers.
Impact Pettis caught his first touchdown of the season when he hauled in a five-yard pass in the end zone from rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler in the second quarter. The 29-year-old signed with the Saints on Dec. 7 after the team underwent a rash of injuries at wide receiver. With starters Chris Olave (concussion) and Rashid Shaheed (knee) both on IR down the stretch of the season, Pettis helped augment the receiver room behind Marquez Valdes-Scantling, who led the team with 16 catches (on 34 targets) for 380 yards and four touchdowns over the final eight weeks. Meanwhile, Pettis totaled 12 catches (on 28 targets) for 120 yards and one touchdown over this stretch. Pettis will likely look to sign a reserve/future contract with the Saints heading into this offseason.

Nets 101 all-purpose yards in loss Pettis secured two of seven targets for 31 yards and returned two kickoffs for 70 yards in the Saints' 34-0 loss to the Packers on Monday night.
Impact Pettis finished second in receiving yards and targets on the night for the Saints while also tying Foster Moreau and Juwan Johnson for the team lead in catches. The veteran wideout continued to enjoy an expanded role in the offense due to New Orleans' multitude of injuries at wideout, and his receiving yardage total was a new season high. However, despite the elevated level of opportunity Monday, Pettis could bump down all the way to a No. 4 or No. 5 role for a Week 17 home matchup against the Raiders if Marquez Valdes-Scantling (chest/illness) and Chris Olave (concussion) are able to return for that contest.
DECEMBER 24, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Catches two passes Week 15 Pettis tallied two receptions (on five targets) for 24 yards during Sunday's 20-19 defeat against Washington.
Impact Pettis logged more than two targets for the first time this season. He also tied with running back Alvin Kamara (groin) for the team's second-most targets behind deep threat Marquez Valdes-Scantling (seven). Though, this ultimately didn't mean much in terms of fantasy value, as the Saints' passing game was largely ineffective without starting quarterback Derek Carr (concussion/hand). With no clear No. 1 receiver either, it's likely that the Saints will continue spreading the ball around to multiple pass catchers. However, if Kamara ends up missing time after being forced out with a groin injury in the fourth quarter, then it's possible that the Saints will rely more on its wideouts and tight ends. The team will have one extra day to rest before facing the Packers on Monday, Dec. 23.

Held without catch in Week 14 Pettis took the field for 21 of the Saints' 68 snaps on offense and was unable to reel in either of his two targets in Sunday's 14-11 win over the Giants.
Impact Pettis was held without a catch for the first time in four appearances with the Saints and finished fourth in snaps among New Orleans receivers, trailing Marquez Valdes-Scantling (48), Kevin Austin (44) and Cedrick Wilson (25). The 29-year-old is unlikely to see his role grow dramatically over the final four games of the season, though he'll at least have some security after the Saints gave him a permanent spot on the roster by signing him off the practice squad last week.

Signed to active roster by NOLA The Saints Ross Jackson of WWL Louisiana Pettis from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday.
Impact Pettis had been elevated from the Saints' practice squad for the last three games, and now he's set to be on the active roster for the rest of the 2024 regular season. Across his three outings, Pettis logged three catches (on four targets) for 22 yards while adding 26 kick return yards and 54 punt return yards.
DECEMBER 7, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Moves back to practice squad Pettis reverted to the Saints' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Impact Pettis has received some run in New Orleans' offense the last three games due to the banged-up nature of the receiving corps, recording exactly one catch on each occasion. Overall, his 3-22-0 line on four targets during that span isn't much to write home about, and his snap share (20 percent) was behind all of Marquez Valdes-Scantling (76), Kevin Austin (61) and Cedrick Wilson (33). Because the Saints have used the maximum allotment of three elevations on Pettis, he'll need to be signed to the active roster in order to suit up Sunday at the Giants.

Elevated by Saints for Week 13 New Orleans elevated Pettis from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Impact Pettis will be elevated for a third straight game. In his last two outings, Pettis has caught two passes on as many targets for 17 yards while adding 26 kick return yards and 54 punt return yards. He'll serve as the Saints' primary returner Sunday against the Rams and will provide depth at wide receiver behind Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Cedrick Wilson and fellow practice squad wideout Kevin Austin.

Reverts to practice squad Pettis reverted to the Saints' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Impact Pettis was elevated to the Saints' active roster for the second consecutive week ahead of Sunday's win over the Browns, catching his lone target for nine yards across seven offensive snaps. The Washington product also played five special-teams snaps and returned two punts for 54 yards, including a 53-yard return that was initially ruled an 88-yard touchdown before being called back for stepping out of bounds. He's expected to rejoin the Saints' active roster following the team's Week 12 bye.

Elevated by Saints for Week 11 The Saints elevated Pettis from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Pettis will be elevated to the Saints' active roster for a second straight week. He played 11 snaps (seven on offense, four on special teams) in Week 10 against the Falcons, finishing with one catch for eight yards while adding 26 kickoff return yards. Pettis will likely reprise his role as the Saints' primary kickoff returner against the Browns on Sunday.

Back to practice squad Pettis reverted to the Saints' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log.
Impact The wide receiver was elevated for Sunday's 20-17 win over the Falcons with Chris Olave (concussion) on injured reserve and Cedrick Wilson (shoulder) out. Pettis played on seven offensive snaps and caught his only target for eight yards. He also played four snaps on special teams and returned a kick for 26 yards.
NOVEMBER 12, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Elevated from practice squad New Orleans elevated Pettis from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.
Impact Pettis signed with the Saints' practice squad Oct. 15 after being let go with an injury settlement by the Bears on Sept. 5. He'll provide the Saints some depth at wide receiver against the Falcons on Sunday as Chris Olave (concussion) is on injured reserve and Cedrick Wilson (shoulder) has been ruled out. Pettis played in all 17 regular-season games with Chicago in 2023 and finished with 19 catches (on 41 targets) for 245 yards and three touchdowns.

Joins Saints' practice squad New Orleans signed Pettis (undisclosed) to its practice squad Tuesday.
Impact Pettis was cut from the Bears' injured reserve list in early September, but with the Saints dealing with multiple injuries to an already-thin group of wide receivers, it now looks like he could suit up for his 2024 debut as soon as Thursday. Specifically, his experience returning punts could prove helpful with Rashid Shaheed's (knee) status for Week 7 up in the air.

Works out with Cowboys The Cowboys hosted Pettis (undisclosed) for a workout Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Impact Pettis was let go with an injury settlement by the Bears on Sept. 5 due to an undisclosed issue. He appears to be healthy and the 28-year-old wideout is attempting to catch on with an NFL roster. He last saw regular-season action in 2022 with the Bears, during which he registered 19 catches (on 41 targets) for 245 yards and three touchdowns across 17 games.
