Not practicing, not yet out Week 6 Giants head coach Joe Judge said Jones (concussion) won't practice Wednesday, but the quarterback is "on track with everything" in his recovery from the brain injury and hasn't yet...
Impact Jones isn't believed to have an extensive history of concussions, but the one he suffered in last week's loss to the Cowboys looked fairly serious, as he struggled to get back on his feet after taking a helmet-to-helmet hit before being ruled out for the remainder of the contest. Though Judge was unwilling to dismiss the possibility of Jones clearing the five-step protocol before the weekend, the 24-year-old will likely need to make enough progress in his recovery to join his teammates on the field for practice in some capacity Thursday or Friday to have a legitimate shot at playing. On a positive note, Jones was at least in attendance for Wednesday's session in an observational role, with Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record noting that the signal-caller was donning a helmet and full pads while doing some throwing off to the side. Meanwhile, Mike Glennon is taking reps with the first-team offense Wednesday and would be in line to start if Jones is ruled out for Week 6.

Sustains concussion Sunday Jones won't return to Sunday's contest at Dallas after suffering a concussion.
Impact The diagnosis comes as no surprise after Jones took not only a helmet-to-helmet hit from a Dallas defender, his helmet also hit the turf as he went to the ground. Afterward, he had trouble getting to and staying on his feet until Giants trainers got to him, and he required a cart to get to the locker room, where the concussion was confirmed. Now subject to league protocols for head injuries, Jones will yield quarterback duties for New York to Mike Glennon.

Requires cart to leave field Jones (undisclosed) needed to be carted off the field near the end of the second quarter of Sunday's game in Dallas, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.
Impact Jones took a quarterback keeper to the left and was met just before the goal line by two Cowboys defenders. His helmet took hits from both one of those players and the turf, and he had difficulty getting to and staying on his feet before the Giants' training staff got to him. He likely is undergoing concussion testing and may soon be in the league's protocol for head injuries. As long as Jones is sidelined, Mike Glennon will direct the offense.

New York Giants, Jets earn first wins of the season in overtime thrillers
Tops 400 yards in comeback OT win Jones completed 28 of 40 passes for 402 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in Sunday's 27-21 overtime win over New Orleans. He added 27 yards on four rushing attempts and ra...
Impact After the teams exchanged missed field goals, Jones opened the scoring with a 52-yard touchdown to John Ross. His first interception of the season wasn't a costly one, as it came on a Hail Mary to end the first half. Jones and the rest of the Giants offense were quiet through three quarters outside of the Ross touchdown, but a 54-yard touchdown pass to Saquon Barkley and Jones' ensuing two-point conversion ignited New York's comeback, cutting the Saints' lead to three with 6:52 remaining. The third-year quarterback proceeded to set up Graham Gano's game-tying 48-yard field goal in the final minute, then marched the offense down the field for the game-winning drive in overtime, which Barkley capped with a six-yard touchdown run. Fresh off his first 400-yard passing game -- and first 300-yard performance since his rookie season -- Jones will be brimming with confidence when the Giants travel to Dallas in Week 5.

Geoff Schwartz: Should the Chiefs, Steelers, Bears begin to panic?
No touchdowns in defeat Jones completed 24 of 35 passes for 266 yards in Sunday's 17-14 loss to the Falcons. He also rushed eight times for 39 yards and a successful two-point conversion.
Impact Jones was forced to cope with wideouts Darius Slayton and Sterling Shepard both exiting Sunday with hamstring injuries, as well as tailback Saquon Barkley being sidelined for a brief period. Although he recovered his own fumble twice, Jones avoided turning the ball over and completed a high percentage of his passes for the second straight week. He also made a decent impact with his legs, including his two-point conversion to start the fourth quarter. With no touchdowns to show for his effort, though, Jones will strive to have more of an influence in Week 4 versus the Saints, even if his receiving corps could be short-handed.
