Two catches against Panthers Samuel caught both of his targets for 14 yards in Saturday's 23-21 preseason loss to the Panthers.

Impact Samuel was the target of Carson Wentz's first pass, which went for a gain of six yards. Two possessions later, he chipped in an eight-yard reception to give the Commanders a fresh set of downs. Most importantly, Samuel appears to be fully healthy after he managed only 79 total snaps with Washington in 2021.

Conditioning an issue Coach Ron Rivera said Monday he has "some concern about football conditioning" in reference to Samuel, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.

Impact Samuel has had his reps managed throughout all offseason workouts, and he's practicing off to the side during Monday's session. Rivera confirmed that none of Samuel's current limitations have to do with last season's injuries, which restricted him to just five appearances, but the 25-year-old's status still warrants monitoring. If Samuel isn't back to full form by Week 1, rookie first-round pick Jahan Dotson could see a clearer opportunity to entrench himself as the No. 2 wideout behind Terry McLaurin.

Looks 'really good' during workouts Commanders head coach Ron Rivera said Monday that Samuel (hamstring) looks "really good" during workouts so far, Pete Hailey of NBC Sports Washington reports.

Impact Samuel signed a three-year, $34.5 million contract ahead of the 2021 campaign, but he battled a lingering groin injury from the summer through the fall and later added a hamstring issue after a brief return to action Weeks 12-14. In total, he played 84 offensive snaps across five games, catching six of nine targets for 27 yards while rushing four times for 11 yards during his first campaign with Washington. After an injury-plagued start to his Commanders career, it appears the 25-year-old wideout could be healthy to start the 2022 campaign. It's important to note that Washington hasn't done any football activities yet during its voluntary offseason workouts, but Rivera said he's received positive news from trainers and added, "when you see him moving around, you feel pretty confident about him."
