Avoids serious injury
Hogan (ribs) did not suffer any broken bones during Sunday's 31-13 loss to the 49ers, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Impact
Hogan hauled in six of eight targets for 75 yards before being forced out of Sunday's contest. The 32-year-old has already exceeded his total receiving yardage from 2019, and it's encouraging to see that he could avoid missing any time due to his rib injury. With Breshad Perriman (ankle) and Jamison Crowder (hamstring) both nursing their own injuries, Hogan could be in line for another major role at Indianapolis in Week 3 if he's able to take the field.

Injures ribs Sunday
Hogan was forced out of Sunday's game versus the 49ers with a rib injury, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports.
Impact
The Jets entered Sunday's game without Jamison Crowder (hamstring), and they could finish it without their top three receivers if Hogan or Breshad Perriman (ankle) don't return. Braxton Berrios and Josh Malone are the only remaining wideouts for the Jets.

Less competition for Week 2 targets
Hogan could see more targets Sunday against the 49ers, as Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports that slot receiver Jamison Crowder (hamstring) will be inactive.
Impact
Crowder will join Le'Veon Bell (hamstring) on the sidelines Week 2, so that's 15 combined Week 1 targets missing from the Jets offense against an injury-riddled 49ers secondary. Breshad Perriman and Chris Herndon are still ahead of Hogan on the pass-catching pecking order, but the veteran wide receiver will likely see more than the four targets he got in his Jets debut.

Non-factor in Week 1
Hogan caught one of four targets for no gain in Sunday's 27-17 loss to the Bills.
Impact
Hogan failed to get anything going despite seeing the field plenty for the banged-up Jets. As a bit piece in a low-octane offense, Hogan won't be a popular fantasy play against the 49ers in Week 2.

Poised to start in opener
Hogan could see an expanded role in Week 1 against Buffalo, as rookie Denzel Mims (hamstring) may not be able to play.
Impact
Hogan's ticketed for a starting role on the outside opposite Breshad Perriman, with Jamison Crowder manning the slot. While he was a non-factor for the Panthers in 2019, the journeyman wide receiver has stacked up five seasons north of 400 yards over his seven-year NFL career. That production won't have fantasy managers rushing to the waiver wire, but it shows that Hogan could at least fill in capably if Mims needs to heal up and get familiar with the offense.

Injury-free ahead of Week 1
Hogan wasn't listed on Wednesday's injury report, suggesting that he's over the tightness that was bothering him last week, Rich Cimini of ESPN NFL Nation reports.
Impact
Hogan actually appears to be the Jets' healthiest receiver ahead of the team's Week 1 trip to Buffalo, as Jamison Crowder (hamstring), Denzel Mims (hamstring) and Breshad Perriman (knee) all showed up on the injury report, although all three were able to log full practices. After totaling just 67 yards in a depth role for the Panthers last season, the 31-year-old Hogan is unlikely to be a prominent contributor for the Jets.

Picking up offense
Coach Adam Gase said Tuesday that Hogan is a "quick study," Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports.
Impact
"He's a guy that has a knack to get open," Gase said. "He plays aggressive. He plays angry." With Breshad Perriman (knee) and Denzel Mims (hamstring) both nicked up, and Vyncint Smith (abdomen) set to miss the start of the season, Hogan's wealth of experience might put him in position to make the team and even play a marginal role Week 1. The 31-year-old struggled to earn playing time in Carolina last season, but prior to that he'd logged three solid years in New England.
