Impact Condotta adds that it's his understanding that the running back's absence is not health-related and relayed that the team has excused Carson for as long as he needs to be away. When available, Carson is in line to head a Seattle backfield that also includes Carlos Hyde, DeeJay Dallas and Travis Homer, with Rashaad Penny currently recovering from a knee injury.

Impact Carson dealt with a "couple family situations," but it appears everything is cleared up and the running back will start preparing for his contract year. The 25-year-old is "fine physically," according to Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times, and he's primed to be the Seahawks' top running back Week 1. It's still uncertain what kind of snap count that entails right off the bat, but Rashaad Penny (knee) is expected to begin the season on the PUP list while Carlos Hyde wraps up his rehab from shoulder surgery. As such, the Seahawks could give Carson a large workload, but they also may limit his touches for the first few weeks due to no preseason action.

Dealing with personal matter Coach Pete Carroll said Wednesday that Carson (hip) isn't with the Seahawks due to personal reasons, Omar Ruiz of NFL Network reports.

Impact Carson is tending to a "couple family situations," hence the reason for his absence. On the health front, Carroll told Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times that Carson is "fine physically," which means he's likely past the season-ending hip fracture he suffered last December. When he's been available to the Seahawks, Carson has ripped off 1,000 yards on the ground in back-to-back campaigns, and his pass-catching ability has translated to 96.9 yards from scrimmage per game during that stretch. Once he's back with the team, Carson shouldn't have a problem staving off Carlos Hyde (shoulder) for reps in a backfield that is expected to be without Rashaad Penny (knee) to start the season.
