Increased duties on tap?
Hyde could log more touches moving forward following news that Carson suffered a first-degree knee sprain during Sunday's 38-31 win over the Cowboys, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Impact
Hyde was brought in by the Seahawks this offseason for this specific circumstance, as Carson has missed at least one game in each of his first three NFL seasons. Keep in mind that this injury usually carries a 1-to-2 week recovery timeline, and coach Pete Carroll hasn't ruled Carson out for Week 4's matchup against the Dolphins. Still, fantasy managers should be intrigued by Hyde, who could shape up as the interim No. 1 RB. Hyde hasn't been very explosive this year with just 3.6 yards per carry, but he's caught all three targets for 26 yards so far. He and Travis Homer both logged 16 offensive snaps Week 3 and likely will compete for reps if Carson indeed sits out, and it's not out of the realm of possibilities that Homer beats Hyde for the job.

Stable role through two weeks
Hyde rushed five times for 22 yards and caught both targets for 15 yards in Sunday's 35-30 win over the Patriots.
Impact
Hyde dropped to a 24 percent snap share in Week 2 with Chris Carson getting more comfortable after last year's serious hip injury, but the former still finished the game with seven touches -- the same number as Week 1. However, any hope of Hyde splitting reps with Carson has essentially been extinguished, as Carson will be the unequivocal lead back as long as he stays healthy. Hyde is a solid insurance policy in deeper formats, but Travis Homer could get some reps as well if Carson gets hurt.

Punches in TD against Atlanta
Hyde rushed seven times for 23 yards and a score in Sunday's 38-25 win over the Falcons.
Impact
Hyde logged more carries than Chris Carson (six) in this contest, although Carson was heavily involved in the passing game with six receptions for 45 yards and a touchdown while Hyde didn't receive a target. Still, coach Pete Carroll put Hyde into the game late in the fourth quarter to seal the win with a one-yard touchdown. Carroll has hinted at a timeshare between Carson and Hyde before, but the touches could soon start favoring Carson, who looked healthy after fracturing his hip last year.

Preparing to play Sunday
Hude (shoulder) wasn't listed on Wednesday's injury report and is in line to play Sunday versus the Falcons, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
Impact
There has been concern surrounding Hyde since he underwent shoulder surgery in May and took it easy at times during training camp, but the 29-year-old running back appears to be at full health heading into Week 1. Meanwhile, Chris Carson is also recovered after suffering a fractured hip in Week 16 last year. Hyde doesn't have a competitive advantage over Carson, but if coach Pete Carroll opts to limit Carson's touches in his first game back from injury, that would afford Hyde, Travis Homer and rookie DeeJay Dallas a chance to pick up the remaining touches.

Held out of practice
Coach Pete Carroll said Sunday that Hyde was held out of practice, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
Impact
Carroll's comment is ambiguous as to whether Hyde was given a rest day or held out due to injury. Travis Homer (undisclosed) also was unable to practice Sunday, leaving Chris Carson, DeeJay Dallas and Patrick Carr as Seattle's only available running backs. Assuming Hyde is able to maintain full health leading up to the regular season, he looks in line to operate behind Carson out of the backfield.

Staying busy in practice
Coach Pete Carroll said Hyde will be "a big factor" for the Seahawks, John Boyle of Seahawks.com reports.
Impact
Carroll's comments aren't exactly reliable, but there does seem to be a general consensus from Seattle beat reporters about Hyde getting regular work with the first-team offense. That's largely because Chris Carson has seen his practice workloads carefully monitored, a trend that could continue -- albeit to a lesser extent -- in the regular season. It seems both Hyde and Carson have looked healthy this month, with the former returning from shoulder surgery and the latter working his way back from a hip fracture. Meanwhile, Rashaad Penny (knee) remains on the PUP list, likely headed for an extended absence to start the season.

Joins practice Wednesday
Hyde (shoulder) practiced in shoulder pads and a helmet Wednesday.
Impact
Hyde underwent shoulder surgery in February and finally made his practice debut with the Seahawks. Although he didn't absorb any contact, the veteran running back participated in team drills and looks on track for Week 1. While he was mainly brought in to be a dependable backup behind Chris Carson -- who is returning from a fractured hip -- and Rashaad Penny (torn ACL), Hyde could enjoy a respectable workload through the first few games if Carson can't handle his typical workhorse role. If Carson stays healthy, though, Hyde will have a difficult path to fantasy relevancy, as he doesn't contribute in the passing game where both Travis Homer and rookie DeeJay Dallas can pick up reps.
