Poised for Week 12 start The Bengals are planning to have Allen start at quarterback Sunday against the Giants, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

Impact After serving as the Bengals' backup quarterback in each of the team's first 10 games and working in relief of Joe Burrow after the rookie tore his ACL and MCL in Sunday's loss to Washington, Ryan Finley was widely viewed as the favorite for the Week 12 nod. Instead, the Bengals are expected to cast their lot with Allen, who had been on the team's practice squad up until earlier this week. While Allen should benefit from his existing familiarity with head coach Zac Taylor's offensive system from their time together with the Rams, the 28-year-old doesn't profile as a particularly exciting fantasy option. His three NFL appearances all came last season with the Broncos, with Allen completing just 39 of 84 attempts (46.4 percent) for 515 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions.

Signs with Bengals' active roster The Bengals will sign Allen to the active roster Monday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Impact Allen was on the Bengals' practice squad but will slot into the backup role behind Ryan Finley following news that Joe Burrow suffered a torn ACL and MCL during Sunday's loss to Washington. Over three games with the Broncos last season, Allen completed 39 of 84 passes (46 percent) for 515 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions.

Hitting waiver wire Allen was waived by the Bengals on Saturday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Impact The Bengals also jettisoned Jake Dolegala leaving just Ryan Finley as the sole backup, although Pelissero hinted the team could make a move for one of the top backup QBs on the market thanks to their No. 1 waiver-wire claim. Considering Allen did register three starts last season it's almost guaranteed he'll at minimum make it on a team's practice squad, but it's unclear as to where he'll fall at the moment.
