Impact Kenneth Gainwell has worked as the No. 2 back behind Miles Sanders all season, but Scott got two more carries (seven to five) in the Week 7 loss to Las Vegas after Sanders sprained his ankle. Gainwell did have the advantage in snap share (51 percent to 33) and targets (8-2), so it's possible he's the more productive back Sunday afternoon even if he comes off the bench rather than making his first career start. There's also a third candidate for carries, with Jordan Howard promoted Saturday from the practice squad.

Impact Miles Sanders left the game late in the first quarter with an ankle injury, and Scott split the backfield workload roughly equally with Kenneth Gainwell for the rest of the afternoon, with the rookie's nine touches topping Scott by one. Both backs also found the end zone -- Scott on the ground for his first TD of the year, Gainwell through the air -- and if Sanders is sidelined for a Week 8 road clash against the Lions, the duo could well operate in a timeshare again despite the fact Scott came into this game with only two receptions and zero carries through the first six weeks.

Impact The Eagles have a deep group of running backs, with Scott and starter Miles Sanders joined by Kerryon Johnson, Jordan Howard and fifth-round pick Kenneth Gainwell. The latter is arguably the biggest threat to Scott's backup role, but the veteran will at least get a chance to defend it, following a 2020 campaign in which he averaged 5.0 yards on 80 carries and 8.5 yards on 25 receptions. Gainwell is also a smaller back with promising receiving skills, so it'll be hard to find find steady roles for both him and Scott unless Sanders is injured or benched.

Impact With only two accredited seasons to his name, Scott will need to wait until next spring for his first shot at restricted free agency. He's a clear No. 2 on Philadelphia's backfield depth chart heading into April, but there's still plenty of time for the team to add competition before training camp. Scott averaged 4.7 yards on 80 carries and 8.5 yards on 25 catches last season, though he barely got any touches when Miles Sanders was healthy. Scott's four starts accounted for 51 of his 80 carries (64 percent) and nine of his 25 receptions (36 percent).

Likely staying in Philadelphia Scott will be an exclusive rights free agent this offseason, meaning he can only negotiate with the Eagles, Mike Kaye of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.

Impact There was talk of Scott being a restricted free agent, but that would've required three accrued seasons in the NFL, rather than the two he's been credited with. A 2018 sixth-round pick, Scott started his career on the Saints' practice squad before the Eagles poached him in December of 2018. He's since played in 29 regular-season games for Philadelphia, taking 141 carries for 618 yards (4.4 YPC) and six touchdowns, with 49 catches for 416 yards (8.5 YPR) and another score. The 5-foot-6 Scott is one of the shortest players in the NFL, but his dense build (203 pounds) and impressive receiving skills have helped him develop into a reliable backup RB behind Miles Sanders. That said, there's always the possibility of Philadelphia adding backfield competition this offseason, especially if the new coaching staff lacks confidence in Sanders and/or Scott.

The 25-year-old is solid backup with the ability to operate as a pass catcher, but there isn't much upside when he is asked to be anything more than that. Scott will become an restricted free agent this offseason, but with big turnover potentially coming for the Eagles, it is unclear whether the front office plans to retain him or not. The decision is unlikely to affect fantasy managers in 2021.

Scott now gets another chance to strut his stuff in a primetime game, though any of Corey Clement, Jason Huntley and Jordan Howard could also have a role in the game plan.
