Ameer Abdullah - NFL News, Rumors, & Updates

Limited workload in loss Abdullah posted three rushes for 11 yards and caught his only target for two yards during Sunday's 20-13 defeat versus the Broncos.

Impact Abdullah was most involved on special teams, though he was on the field for six of the Jaguars' 59 offensive snaps, finishing behind Bhayshul Tuten (30), Chris Rodriguez (13) and LeQuint Allen (nine). The 30-year-old should continue to see a similar workload in each game moving ahead, so his fantasy ceiling can't get much lower, especially with Tuten, Rodriguez and Allen in the mix.

Earns roster spot with strong training camp Abdullah earned a spot on the Jaguars' 53-man roster following a strong training camp, John Oehser of the team's official site reports.

Impact Abdullah and LeQuint Allen (undisclosed) will enter the regular season as the rotational running backs behind co-starters Bhayshul Tuten (illness) and Chris Rodriguez. Abdullah played in only one of the Jaguars' three preseason games, but he did enough during training camp and joint practices to crack the 53-man roster for the 2026 campaign. The 2015 second-rounder appeared in 13 regular-season games for the Colts last year, finishing with 14 carries for 60 yards and touchdown along with 16 catches (on 17 targets) for 99 yards.

Leads backfield in Friday's preseason loss Abdullah carried the ball six times for 45 yards and caught three of four targets for 37 yards in Friday's 34-17 preseason loss to the Panthers.

Impact With the Jaguars' resting Bhayshul Tuten and Chris Rodriguez and LeQuint Allen sidelined by a soft-tissue injury, Abdullah and DeeJay Dallas split the backfield reps in the first half. While they each saw nine touches, Abdullah outgained his competition 82 scrimmage yards to 40, and Dallas also lost a fumble. Even at age 33, Abdullah still looks like he can contribute as a passing-down option and kickoff returner, and if Allen isn't 100 percent by Week 1, the veteran could claim the RB3 role to begin the season.

Impact Abdullah, who is now heading into his age-33 campaign, suited up for 13 regular-season games with Indianapolis in 2025, totaling 14 carries for 60 yards and one touchdown and 16 catches for 99 yards (on 17 targets). He also handled 137 snaps on special teams for the Colts and racked up 563 kick-return yards. The veteran will compete with DeeJay Dallas and LeQuint Allen to carve out a similar role with the Jaguars.

Three touches to conclude season Abdullah rushed once for one yard and caught both of his targets for 24 yards in Sunday's 38-30 loss to the Texans. He finished the season with 14 rushes for 60 yards and one touch...

Impact Abdullah finished the 2025 campaign having very little impact offensively, a theme for the veteran running back for most of the season. The 32-year-old operated as one of the Colts' top backup options out of the backfield, but he was unable to get much going each week with starter Jonathan Taylor handling a large majority of the work at running back. Abdullah will enter the offseason as an unrestricted free agent, but his age and lack of impressive production may make it difficult to garner much interest from teams around the league.

One touch in loss Abdullah caught his lone target for four yards during Sunday's 23-17 loss to the Jaguars.

Impact The 32-year-old from Nebraska has now gone without a carry in each of the Colts' last two games. Through 12 appearances this season, Abdullah has rushed 13 times for 59 yards and a touchdown while catching 14 of 15 targets for 75 yards. Additionally, he's logged 510 kick-return yards while operating as one of Indianapolis' top return men. Expect Abdullah to remain one of the team's primary kick returners in the Week 18 matchup against the Texans.

Records one catch against 49ers Abdullah caught his lone target for four yards in Monday's 48-27 loss to the 49ers.

Impact Abdullah failed to record a single rushing attempt in the contest while playing just four of the Colts' 60 offensive snaps. With Jonathan Taylor handling the vast majority of snaps at running back, Abdullah and teammate Tyler Goodson are left to handle the few remaining opportunities in the Colts' backfield. The veteran cannot be trusted for fantasy purposes in a Week 17 matchup against the Jaguars.

Leads team in receiving Sunday Abdullah rushed four times for 15 yards and caught all five of his targets for 32 yards in Sunday's 18-16 loss to the Seahawks.

Impact Abdullah benefited from having Philip Rivers take over under center for the injured Daniel Jones (Achilles) after the backup running back finished as the Colts' leading receiver Sunday. The 32-year-old Abdullah hadn't recorded more than two receptions in any of his previous nine appearances this season, but the higher target share could become a trend with Rivers needing to make plenty of check-down passes to preserve his own health down the stretch. Abdullah represents a sneaky play in Week 16 for those in deep PPR formats, but the veteran backup can safely be ignored elsewhere.

Three touches in blowout loss Abdullah had one carry for four yards and two receptions for five yards on two targets in Sunday's 39-16 loss at Jacksonville.

Impact Abdullah played a season-high 17 snaps on offense as he got playing time late amid a blowout loss. Abdullah looks clearly ahead of Tyler Goodson and DJ Giddens in the backup running back role, though that order may change if starter Jonathan Taylor were to get hurt.

DECEMBER 8, 2025 • ROTOWIRE

Plans just four snaps on offense Abdullah did not have a carry and failed to bring in a catch on his only target in Sunday's loss at Kansas City.

Impact Abdullah played just four snaps on offense as Indy used Jonathan Taylor on 46 of the offense's 51 snaps despite giving him just 16 rushing attempts. Abdullah looks ahead of Tyler Goodson and DJ Giddens in the backup role, though that order may change if Taylor is injured.
