Tidjane Salaün News, Rumors, Updates - Charlotte Hornets

Wants to be more versatile Salaun said Monday that he's focused on becoming a more versatile contributor as he competes for playing time in Charlotte's rotation, Sam reports.

Impact The third-year forward identified facilitating, efficient catch-and-shoot play, screening and the ability to defend all five positions as areas that could help him earn minutes. Salaun also made improving his physicality a priority during the offseason. After averaging 6.1 points and 4.7 rebounds across 62 regular-season appearances in 2025-26, he'll face increased competition for playing time in a deeper Hornets rotation this season.

After appearing in 60 regular-season games (10 starts) during his rookie season, the second-year forward split time between the NBA and G League in 2025-26. Over 37 regular-season appearances off the bench this season, the 20-year-old averaged 6.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 0.7 assists and 0.4 steals in 15.5 minutes per game. Recalled by Charlotte The Hornets recalled Salaun from the G League's Greensboro Swarm on Saturday.

Impact Salaun helped the Swarm to a 119-104 win over the Stockton Kings in Game 2 of the G League Finals on Friday, when he played 35 minutes and finished with 19 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks. He hasn't appeared in an NBA-level game since March 3, but Salaun will be available for the Hornets' regular-season finale against the Knicks on Sunday.

Dispatched to G League The Hornets assigned Salaun (calf) to the G League's Greensboro Swarm on Monday.

Impact The 2024 first-round pick hasn't made an appearance for the Hornets or the Swarm since March 3 while on the mend from a left calf strain, but his assignment to the G League indicates that he'll likely practice with the affiliate Monday and potentially return to action in its playoff opener Tuesday versus the Maine Celtics. Salaun will likely rejoin the Hornets once the Swarm's playoff run comes to an end, but he's not expected to be a regular part of the rotation when Charlotte is at full strength.

MARCH 30 • ROTOWIRE

Out again Sunday Salaun (calf) won't play in Sunday's game against Boston.

Impact Salaun hasn't played since March 3, and at this rate, it's anyone's guess on how much longer he will be on the shelf. The 20-year-old wasn't a consistent producer for Charlotte before his extended absence. However, he still had a stable role in the rotation. While Salaun is working his way back, Sion James should absorb most of the minutes up for grabs.

MARCH 29 • ROTOWIRE

Out with calf strain Salaun is out for Friday's game against the Heat due to a left calf strain.

Impact Salaun missed Wednesday's win in Boston with a left knee injury, but now the Hornets have ruled him out with a calf strain. The second-year forward's absence should have a negligible impact on the Charlotte frontcourt rotation Friday.

Out Wednesday Salaun (knee) is out for Wednesday's game against Boston.

Impact Salaun is out with a left knee injury Wednesday. However, his absence shouldn't have a major impact on the Charlotte frontcourt rotation.

MARCH 4 • ROTOWIRE

Out Wednesday with knee sprain Salaun has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against Boston due to a left knee sprain.

Impact After being recalled from the G League's Greensboro Swarm on Tuesday, Salaun checked into Wednesday's 117-90 win over Dallas in garbage time but was subbed out of the contest after playing just one minute and 17 seconds. The knee injury was presumably the cause of Salaun's departure, and he'll now be sidelined for the second leg of the back-to-back set.

MARCH 4 • ROTOWIRE

Recalled to Charlotte The Hornets recalled Salaun from the G League's Greensboro Swarm on Tuesday.

Impact With Miles Bridges and Moussa Diabate likely to receive suspensions, this is an expected move. Salaun has had some positive moments this season and could be back in the rotation for the short term.

FEBRUARY 10 • ROTOWIRE

Cleared to return Saturday Salaun (illness) is available for Saturday's game against the Hawks.

Impact Salaun was unable to play against the Rockets on Thursday while battling through an illness, but it appears the second-year has progressed enough to be available for Saturday's contest. He's averaging 16.0 minutes per game off the bench this season, though he's seen less playing time at the NBA level as of late while getting more reps in the G League with the Greensboro Swarm.

FEBRUARY 7 • ROTOWIRE

Iffy for Saturday Salaun is questionable for Saturday's game against the Hawks with an illness.

Impact The Hornets are likely to check back in with the second-year forward closer to Saturday's tipoff. Regardless of whether or not Salaun is available, his status doesn't appear to shake up the Charlotte frontcourt rotation.
