Lakers' Anthony Davis misses 2nd half with right foot injury

Anthony Davis is missing the second half of the Los Angeles Lakers’ game against the Denver Nuggets with a right foot injury
DECEMBER 17, 2022 • Associated Press
Returns to bench Friday Bryant isn't in the starting lineup for Friday's game against Philadelphia, Mike Trudell of Spectrum SportsNet reports.
Impact With Anthony Davis returning to the starting five Friday, Bryant will move back to the bench. Bryant has scored 19 and 16 points in his past two contests, respectively, but is unlikely to continue that level of offensive production with Davis back.
DECEMBER 9, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Fares well in spot start Bryant accumulated 16 points (3-5 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 10-10 FT), five rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals in 32 minutes during Wednesday's 126-113 loss to Toronto.
Impact Bryant was efficient with limited shots in this one, and he scored 10 of his 16 points from the charity stripe. The Indiana product has now scored in double figures in back-to-back contests. Bryant has enjoyed an uptick in playing time of late due to the absence of LeBron James (ankle) and Anthony Davis (illness), so he'll likely see his minutes take a hit when both stars return to full strength.
DECEMBER 8, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Starting against Toronto Bryant is in the starting five for Wednesday's game against the Raptors, Ryan Ward of LakersNation.com reports.
Impact Bryant will move to the starting lineup with Anthony Davis (illness) out. Bryant will make just his second start of the season Wednesday.
DECEMBER 8, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Strong showing off bench Bryant chipped in 19 points (8-12 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), nine rebounds and one assist across 28 minutes off the bench during Tuesday's 116-102 loss to Cleveland.
Impact The 25-year-old center got extra run and saw a season high in minutes due to an early exit for Anthony Davis (illness), and Bryant responded with a season high in points while falling one board shy of his first double-double. With the Lakers back in action Wednesday against the Raptors, Bryant could get the starting nod if Davis remains under the weather.

Starting for injured AD Bryant will start Saturday's game against the Spurs, Mike Trudell of Spectrum SportsNet reports.
Impact With Anthony Davis (calf) sidelined, Bryant will make his first start of the season. In his three appearances, he's averaged 10.3 points and 5.7 rebounds in 15.7 minutes.

Flirts with double-double Bryant ended with 15 points (5-5 FG, 5-8 FT), nine rebounds and one assist in 23 minutes during Sunday's 123-92 win over the Spurs.
Impact Bryant had a perfect shooting night off the bench in Sunday's win. Although Anthony Davis had a huge night, he wasn't needed down the stretch, allowing Bryant to shine in a reserve role. The uptick in production after his season debut Friday is a good indication that Bryant could be an emerging fantasy value with the second unit. He's worth a speculative add in deeper formats.
NOVEMBER 21, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Makes impact in season debut Bryant (thumb) finished with eight points (4-6 FG, 0-1 3Pt), five rebounds and one block in 13 minutes during Friday's 128-121 victory over the Pistons.
Impact Bryant, who made his season debut Friday after missing the Lakers' first 13 games while recovering from thumb surgery, should give Los Angeles some added depth in the frontcourt now that he's healthy again. He was able to make an impact in his limited run Friday and could see his role expand if he continues to play well, but he's still being eased back in following a lengthy absence. Bryant has sported top-150 value on a per-36-minute basis in past seasons, but he's unlikely to approach that level of playing time so long as Anthony Davis is healthy and available.

Lakers-Pistons takeaways: L.A. wins in debuts of Dennis Schroder, Thomas Bryant Dennis Schroder and Thomas Bryant finally took the court for the Lakers, who won a second in a row on a night Kendrick Nunn found his shot.
NOVEMBER 19, 2022 • LATIMES.COM
No longer on injury report Bryant (thumb) will be active for Friday's game against the Pistons, NBA writer Marc Stein reports.
Impact Bryant logged a full practice Wednesday and was considered probable for the contest, and he's now entirely off of the injury report. His return to action coincides with Dennis Schroder's debut, and the Lakers' roster could be in full force Friday if LeBron James (groin) and Juan Toscano-Anderson (back) play. Bryant figures to share center minutes with Anthony Davis (back) and Wenyen Gabriel.
NOVEMBER 17, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Likely to make season debut Friday Lakers coach Darvin Ham said Bryant (thumb) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice and is probable to play in Friday's game versus Detroit, Mike Bresnahan of Spectrum Sport...
Impact Bryant joins Dennis Schroder as probable to make their season debuts Friday after recovering from thumb surgeries. If Bryant plays against Detroit as expected, he will likely compete for frontcourt rotation minutes with Wenyen Gabriel and Damian Jones.

NOVEMBER 15, 2022 • USATODAY.COM
May make debut Friday Teammate Lonnie Walker said after Sunday's win over the Nets that Bryant (thumb) is expected to make his season debut in the Lakers' next game Friday against the Pistons, Jovan Buh...
Impact Both Bryant and guard Dennis Schroder have missed the Lakers' first 13 games of the season while recovering from their respective thumb surgeries, but if Walker's comments are accurate, Los Angeles could be back at full strength for the first time all season later this week. Even if Bryant gets the green light to play this week upon being re-evaluated during practices over the next few days, it's not immediately clear if he'll step into a spot in head coach Darvin Ham's rotation. With Anthony Davis having seen the majority of his playing time at center this season, Bryant might only be in store for a limited role off the bench even if he's able to secure the backup job over the likes of Wenyen Gabriel and Damian Jones.

Out at least three weeks Bryant (thumb) has undergone surgery on his sprained left thumb and will be re-evaluated in three weeks, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
Impact Bryant is expected to play second-string center behind Damian Jones, though the Lakers' frontcourt is fluid with Anthony Davis also capable of playing the five. While Bryant recovers, more time could be available for Jones, Wenyen Gabriel and Juan Toscano-Anderson.
OCTOBER 18, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Out for opener Bryant will miss Tuesday's contest against Golden State due to a left thumb sprain, Jovan Buha of The Athletic reports.
Impact The 25-year-old center appeared in all six of the Lakers' preseason contests, but Bryant will be forced to miss the team's opener due to a thumb sprain. The 6-foot-10 center's next chance to return to Los Angeles' lineup comes Thursday against the Clippers.
OCTOBER 18, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Excels in spot start Bryant supplied 18 points (5-8 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 8-10 FT), seven rebounds, an assist, a steal and a block across 26 minutes in Thursday's 114-99 preseason loss to the Timberwolves.
Impact Bryant makes a return to the Lakers after appearing in 15 games for the team in his rookie season. In the ensuing four years in Washington, injuries were a consistent issue for Bryant. Aside from his 72-game 2018 season, he played in only 83 games over the next three seasons, with only 27 games played in 2021. If he can stay healthy, he'll be in an upside situation as a backup to Anthony Davis. Davis' work schedule usually involves a few rest days per month, which could give Bryant several spot starts throughout the year.
OCTOBER 7, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Will start Thursday Bryant will start Thursday against the Timberwolves.
Impact Bryant saw seven minutes of action in the Lakers' last preseason game. The center recorded two points and three rebounds in those seven minutes. Expect Bryant to see a larger role Thursday starting alongside Max Christie, Scotty Pippen, Austin Reaves and Wenyen Gabriel.
