Solid in win Aldama logged 12 points (5-7 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT), seven rebounds, one block and two steals over 34 minutes during Friday's 114-103 win over Minnesota.

Impact Aldama returned to double-digit scoring, but he brushed up against his ceiling, as he hasn't exceeded 12 points in any of his last nine contests. Nonetheless, Aldama remains a core piece of Memphis' lineup until Jaren Jackson (foot) returns.

Snatches 10 boards Aldama totaled four points (2-9 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 0-1 FT), 10 rebounds, two assists and three steals in 27 minutes during Sunday's 103-97 win over the Wizards.

Impact Aldama battled on the glass all night and came through on the defensive end, though he did struggle to shoot the ball in this one. He typically turns in a more efficient outing on offense, as he entered Sunday's matchup having shot 9-for-17 from the field over his first two games in November.

Aldama is taking advantage of a starting role in his second NBA campaign to average a solid 12.8 points, 7.5 boards and 1.3 blocks though his first four contests.

Impact The 11 boards were a career high, as Aldama put together a statement game after winning the starting power forward job for the Grizzlies in the preseason. Starting season-opener Aldama will start Wednesday's season-opener against the Knicks, Steve Popper of Newsday reports.

Impact Aldama will get the nod at power forward alongside Steven Adams to begin the year, and it looks as though he'll have a chance to grab hold of that spot for the foreseeable future -- at least until Jaren Jackson Jr. (foot) returns from injury. It is worth noting, however, that Memphis is without both Dillon Brooks (thigh) and Ziaire Williams (knee), so it's possible coach Taylor Jenkins could use a different lineup when both players are available. Either way, it's encouraging for Aldama that he's starting over Brandon Clarke.

Impact As expected, Aldama, a 2021 first-round pick, is now officially on Memphis' books through his third NBA season. Though head coach Taylor Jenkins hasn't yet confirmed a starting lineup for Wednesday's season opener against the Knicks, Aldama's usage in the preseason suggests that he'll get the starting nod at power forward over Brandon Clarke while Jaren Jackson (foot) is likely sidelined for several games to begin the campaign. Impact Aldama impressed yet again, continuing to thrive as a member of the starting unit. With Jaren Jackson likely to miss at least a month of action, Aldama now appears to be the favorite to replace him in the starting lineup. While he remains largely unproven, we have seen enough over the past week to make him worth considering in the backend of standard leagues.

The big man wasn't particularly productive in his rookie campaign last season, but he's already showing flashes of improvement in preseason play. He could have a bigger role to begin the season with Jaren Jackson (foot) likely out until November or December.

Impact Aldama scored Memphis' first points of the game on a 27-foot three pointer in the first quarter, shortly after blocking a Bobby Portis' alley-oop layup attempt. The big man scored five of his 13 total points in the quarter to go along with two assists and the block. The only downside to Aldama's performance came in the form of four fouls, three of which were called against him in the first half.
