Ryan Conwell News, Rumors, Updates - Miami Heat

Leads team with 21 points Conwell closed with 21 points (9-17 FG, 3-7 3Pt), seven assists, one rebound and one steal in 30 minutes during Friday's 136-115 preseason loss to Orlando.

Impact Conwell was arguably the best player on the floor for the Heat, continuing what has been a fantastic preseason. Everything he has done thus far points to him at least being considered for a nightly role, albeit in a limited capacity. While he isn't worth drafting at this point, he is a player to watch early in the season, especially with Klay Thompson struggling to hit the side of a barn right now.

Knocks down three triples Conwell recorded 13 points (5-8 FG, 3-4 3Pt), two rebounds, one assist and two steals across 24 minutes in Wednesday's 144-128 preseason victory against the Nets.

Impact Conwell delivered an efficient performance off the bench, knocking down three of his four attempts from beyond the arc while adding two steals without committing a turnover. The rookie guard made a strong case for additional consideration in Miami's crowded perimeter rotation, though a consistent regular-season role is far from guaranteed.

Impact Conwell saw most of his playing time and production during the second half of Saturday's exhibition game while the starters rested. Makes strong impression on team Conwell has made a strong early impression on teammate Klay Thompson during his first training camp with Miami, according to Heat reporter Brendan Tobin.

Impact Thompson praised Conwell's conditioning, defense and left-handed jumper, noting that the rookie picked up full court defensively during practice and had previously beaten him in a shooting drill this summer. The No. 37 overall pick averaged 18.8 points while attempting 9.6 three-pointers per game during his final collegiate season at Louisville, and his combination of shooting and defensive effort could help him compete for a rotation role as a rookie. The hip issue that flared up during Summer League is seemingly behind him.

Impact Conwell tied Trevor Keels for Miami's team-high in scoring while also leading the team in rebounds, continuing to showcase his all-around impact despite another inefficient shooting night. Through two Summer League games, Conwell has emerged as the Heat's leading scorer, but he's converted just 33.3 percent of his field-goal attempts. While the shot hasn't consistently fallen, his willingness to stay aggressive offensively and contribute on the glass has been encouraging, and improved shooting efficiency could quickly elevate his stock heading into the regular season.
