Back to bench Friday Gardner is not in the Heat's starting lineup against the Celtics on Friday.

Impact Gardner drew the start against the Hawks on Tuesday and finished with 14 points, six rebounds and two steals over 22 minutes. He will revert to a bench role Friday due to Norman Powell being cleared to return from a three-game absence while attending to a personal matter.

Scores season-high 14 points Gardner had 14 points (5-8 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six rebounds and two steals in 22 minutes during Tuesday's 127-115 loss to the Hawks.

Impact Gardner played at least 22 minutes for the third straight game, scoring a season-high 14 points. With Miami dealing with a number of injuries, Gardner has been able to shift up in the rotation. In his three most recent appearances, Garnder has averaged 10.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.3 three-pointers. For now, he can be considered a speculative add in deeper formats.

Slots into starting five Gardner is starting Tuesday's game against the Hawks, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.

Impact Gardner will make his second start in the last three games. He could be in for a steady diet of minutes Tuesday without the services of Tyler Herro (ribs), Norman Powell (personal) and Andrew Wiggins (hamstring). Gardner fared well in his last start Saturday against Chicago, finishing with 12 points, 11 rebounds and two steals in 23 minutes.

Double-doubles in first NBA start Gardner recorded 12 points (4-5 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 3-5 FT), 11 rebounds and two steals in 23 minutes during Saturday's 125-118 loss to Chicago.

Impact Gardner was a healthy scratch in each of the Heat's two games prior to Saturday's contest, but he was thrust into a starting role against Chicago due to the absences of Tyler Herro (ribs), Norman Powell (personal) and Davion Mitchell (shoulder). Gardner went on to have his most productive game of the season, co-leading the Heat in rebounds while logging the first double-double of his NBA career. He could start in Sunday's rematch against the Bulls if Herro, Powell and Mitchell are sidelined for that contest.

Will start vs. Chicago Gardner will start Saturday's game against the Bulls.

Impact With Tyler Herro (ribs), Norman Powell (personal) and Davion Mitchell (shoulder) all unavailable, Gardner will step into the starting five for the first time in his career. The two-way player has averaged 5.3 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists across 10.5 minutes per game over his last six appearances with the parent club.

Falls out of rotation Gardner (coach's decision) went unused off the bench Wednesday in the Heat's 133-124 loss to the Magic.

Impact The two-way player had quietly moved into the Miami rotation lately, appearing in each of the Heat's previous six games while averaging 5.3 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 10.5 minutes per contest. However, with the Heat welcoming Kel'el Ware (hamstring) back from a four-game absence and playing him seven minutes, that was enough for Gardner to lose his spot in the 10-man rotation. Miami will eventually get Davion Mitchell (shoulder) and Tyler Herro (ribs) back in the fold as well, so Gardner's prospects of regaining a regular spot on the second unit wouldn't seem to be promising.

Rare appearance in win Gardner closed Saturday's 142-116 win over the Pacers with zero points (0-1 FG, 0-1 3Pt) and one rebound over two minutes.

Impact Gardner appeared for just the seventh time this season, with six of those appearances coming during garbage time. Given his season averages consist of 1.6 points and 0.7 rebounds per game, he can safely be ignored in all formats.
