He'll begin the rehabilitation process immediately and his evaluation in two weeks will provide a better picture on his timeline to return. Nance averaged 19.4 minutes per game before his injury, and that playing time will be absorbed by Onyeka Okongwu and Dominick Barlow for as long as Nance is sidelined.

Atlanta Hawks forward Larry Nance Jr. will undergo surgery for a broken bone in his right hand

DECEMBER 30, 2024 • Associated Press

Will undergo surgery on hand The Hawks announced Monday that Nance will undergo surgery on Thursday after imaging confirmed a fractured fourth metacarpal bone in his right hand.

Impact A timetable has yet to be provided, but there will likely be an update following the procedure. With that said, fantasy managers should brace for a multi-week absence. Nance had a terrific stretch to end December, so this is a big blow for Atlanta. Fortunately for the franchise, Onyeka Okongwu returned from his knee injury on Sunday.

Won't play Sunday Nance (hand) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Raptors, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.

Impact Nance sustained the right hand injury in Saturday's win over Miami, during which he played through the issue and produced 10 points (4-6 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 10 rebounds, two steals and one assist in 27 minutes. Further specifics on a treatment plan will be shared once available, and while there is no clear timetable for his return, the veteran big man's next chance to suit up will come Wednesday against Denver.

Impact It's unclear when Nance suffered the injury, but there aren't additional details outside of the fact that he suffered a problem in his right hand. The Hawks' next game will come against the Heat on Saturday, but given that Nance doesn't have a timetable to return, he's expected to miss at least a few games at a bare minimum.

First double-double of season Nance supplied 21 points (8-13 FG, 5-6 3Pt), 13 rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal in 31 minutes off the bench during Thursday's 133-126 overtime loss to the Spurs.

Impact The journeyman big didn't even get onto the court in either of the prior two games, but Nance was ready to step back into the frontcourt rotation with Onyeka Okongwu (knee) sidelined by a knee issue. Nance led the Hawks in rebounding on the night while playing a season high in minutes and producing his first double-double of 2024-25. Okongwu is expected to at least three more games, putting Nance firmly on the fantasy radar potentially through to the end of the month.

DECEMBER 20, 2024 • ROTOWIRE

Returning to bench Wednesday Nance will come off the bench Wednesday versus New York.

Impact Nance sliding to the second unit corresponds with Jalen Johnson (shoulder) returning to health for Atlanta. Nance is averaging 7.6 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 15.6 minutes across his last five contests off the bench.

DECEMBER 11, 2024 • ROTOWIRE

Solid outing in loss Sunday Nance amassed 16 points (6-11 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, three assists and two steals over 24 minutes during Sunday's 141-111 loss to the Nuggets.

Impact Prior to Sunday's matchup, the veteran big man hadn't seen the court since Nov. 17, though he stepped into the starting five in place of Jalen Johnson (shoulder) and played valuable minutes. Nance was efficient while delivering a solid performance, though it remains to be seen if he'll stick in the rotation when Johnson returns. In 10 regular-season appearances, Nance has averaged 8.7 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 0.9 steals across 16.5 minutes per contest.

DECEMBER 9, 2024 • ROTOWIRE

Starting Sunday Nance will start Sunday's game against the Nuggets, Kevin Chouinard of the Hawks' official site reports.

Impact Nance hasn't played since Nov. 17, but he'll slide into the starting lineup due to Jalen Johnson's (shoulder) absence. In his only start this season (Nov. 1 against the Kings), Nance posted two points and three rebounds in eight minutes.

DECEMBER 8, 2024 • ROTOWIRE

Strong production Tuesday Nance contributed 19 points (7-10 FG, 5-6 3Pt), two rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal in 27 minutes during Tuesday's 117-116 win over the Celtics.

Impact Nance tallied a season-high 19 points in the win, demonstrating what he can do when afforded significant playing time. While this was certainly an encouraging performance, it should be noted that he had played fewer than 15 minutes in six of the previous seven games. He is someone to monitor should he step into a consistent role but for now, this is possibly an outlier.

NOVEMBER 13, 2024 • ROTOWIRE

Plays well off bench Nance supplied 14 points (6-8 FG, 2-3 3Pt), six rebounds and one steal across 25 minutes during Sunday's 126-111 victory over the Pelicans.

Impact Despite moving back to the bench, Nance supplied a versatile fantasy line in limited action. However, with Onyeka Okongwu (toe/rest) expected back Monday, Nance isn't guaranteed to see much action against the Celtics.

Back to bench Nance won't start Sunday's game against the Pelicans, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.

Impact With Dyson Daniels back in action, Nance will shift to his usual reserve role. In two appearances off the bench this season, Nance has averaged 8.5 points, 2.0 assists, 1.5 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 15.0 minutes, but the majority of that production came in one game.
