Kon Knueppel News, Rumors, Updates - Charlotte Hornets

Ruled out for Wednesday Knueppel (hamstring) has returned to individual on-court activity but won't play in Wednesday's game against the Nets.

Impact Knueppel didn't play in the preseason and will miss Wednesday's regular-season opener due to a left hamstring injury. However, he's trending in the right direction and can be considered questionable for Friday's game against Atlanta. With the 21-year-old swingman sidelined, Sion James, Grayson Allen (knee) and Royce O'Neale are candidates to see an uptick in minutes.

Impact Knueppel missed the preseason with a left hamstring injury, though it's encouraging to see him ramping up his workload ahead of the regular season. Lee wouldn't comment on the second-year wing's status for Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Nets, so he can be considered highly questionable until more information comes to light.

New face of franchise? LaMelo Ball's departure accelerates Charlotte's transition toward building around Knueppel and Brandon Miller, according to Cholo Magsino of Yahoo Sports.

Impact The second-year wing could see increased offensive responsibilities immediately, particularly if the Hornets hand more playmaking duties to their young perimeter players. Knueppel's shooting and offensive versatility should make him a key part of Charlotte's long-term plans. Across 81 regular-season games in 2025-26, Knueppel averaged 18.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists on 47.5 percent shooting from the field.
